One could argue that being dumped by the BBC was the best thing to ever happen to Moira. If the reports are to be believed, she will certainly have a much higher profile wherever she goes next.

It's funny how HIGNFY does that to people. It resurrected Brucie's career for example, after his "Play Your Iraqi Cards Right" skit.

After William Hague was 'dumped' from the Tories and the electorate, he has become popular on the after-dinner speech circuit after his appearances on the programme.

As long as Jane Goody doesn't host an episode next series Rolling Eyes Laughing

You like cross promoting your threads don't you.

Rather annoyingly I managed to miss both the intital broadcast and the repeat. I'm currently scouring youtube / bittorrent for it.

Lol and I see Elizabeth Estensen (Diane Sugden from Emmerdale) made it back to earth then.

For all Moira fans -

Just come across this in The Times website. It has been on the go a few days now - but I have also seen that many hacks have now turned their back on supporting her. They say she should look into retiring now lol. Even if she is 57, she is not ready for the scrap heap yet!!

David Brinkley was canned from NBC in the very early 1980s...on similar grounds of being too old for a younger demographic...blah blah blah.

Roone Arledge, at ABC, picked Brinkley up and he went on to a 20-year stint hosting "This Week," a Sunday morning news program based in Washingon, DC, and focused on political issues.

Something similar could happen here.

Does anyone have any news on what's happening to Moira? It's gone quiet for a while now. Does anyone at the Beeb know whether she is leaving to go freelance and pursue other things eg. ITV, Five News etc

I guess as time goes on and the Moira grapevine starts to quieten down, things don't look too promising for her as far as TV News presentation is concerned.

But, hey. What do we know? Stranger things have happened.

Vacancies on Desert Island Discs and the Antiques Roadshow have already been filled by other news presenters. But anyway, since Moira is not a proper journalist, the BBC would probably have dreamt up some sort of excuse as to why she couldn't present those anyway.

Let's hope to get some good news during the coming week on Moira's future.

It's not been that long since she left the BBC. If she's making a documentry for ITV or the like then it won't be for months until we see her again.

Moira on GMTV? She wouldn't stoop so low!!

In all honesty, I don't think any of us would deem Moira the type to interrupt a report on devastating floods for the release of Paris Hilton from jail.

Does anyone still have that clip of Moira on HIGNFY, which appears a couple of pages up?

I can't get it to work any more.
