I see what you mean - but I cannot see why she cannot interview as a journalist.
She is perfectly capable of interviewing David Cameron or Tam Dalziel with her own questions and I am sure she can think on the spot. I doubt that she has everything she said since 1981 full scripted for her. She must have ad libbed a few times!

IMO, Moira would do well as:

a) A news reader on Newsnight, if they brought back the 11pm news bulletin at the top of the hour;

b) A newsreader back on Radio, be it Two or Four,;

c) Newsreader on Radio 4's 'Today" programme;

Why not??

She's too good for radio BBC World!!! Her face needs to be seen on the television!

Yes, indeed. Whilst I agree with you entirely, I feel the likelihood of Moira returning to mainstream Television News presentation is now unlikley.

Sad though I am about that, I would prefer her to remain "on air" in some capacity, radio being the last option.

Unless she takes over from Humphrys on Mastermind, when he decides to retire. LOL

I don't understand why they could have kept the status quo ie. Sunday AM plus some Saturdays plus some documentaries. As I've said before given she is on staff what is the big deal? It's not as if she was adding to the budget by just coming in on Sundays. It's been really poorly handled by the BBC and I think it just shows that loyalty (26 years) counts for nothing.

do you not tink this could have been avoided if she stayed on N24 in the first place insted of joining breakfast

No - I think that the 'journalist' tag would have reared its ugly head well before 2007. I think we could get her doing factual naration if she was to remain on BBC TV. However, as I have said - I think she should ditch the BBC.

Factual narration on the BBC would do her well if the Beeb didn't reinstate her as a newsreader. I don't think she would ever be at home anywhere other than the BBC.

the sunday AM /politics slot was just reading they was no interviews its not as if louise/suzannah do any preperation as they leave breakfast at ten to nine only 15 minutes before the news comes on air so how can they in such short time.
moira did it just as well as them.

I think even the great Moira would have struggled to "read" what you've just written, should it have popped up on the autocue!

Edit: Actually, now that I've read it over and over again, your post is now making sense to me and I agree entirely with your slant on the matter.

I agree with Chris - Moira Stuart should consider options outwith the BBC.
