I am so pleased to see Moira gracing our screens this evening. It is such a shame that the Beeb insists upon 'pretty presesnters' over serious newscasters/journalists.

IMHO Moira is under utilised, and I for one would like to see her more often, especially since she was taken off the bulletins on Breakfast.

It was nice to see her, I sware her hair looks more like plastic each weekend.

Lovely though. Surprised

I echo your sentiments. It was great to see Moira Stuart on BBC News again. I thought she handled the teatime bulletin very well - arguably better than the likes of Kaplinsky etc. I hope that managers use Moira more often at weekends as she's an excellent broadcaster. I know she isn't a "trained journalist" so to speak but I'm a firm believer that her 25 years or so experience counts for much more than a piece of paper obtained from a University.

Exactly, if she went to University now to take a course in Broadcast Journalism, what could she learn that she wouldn't know already after 25 years plus at the BBC?

IMO they were waiting for Darren to go - they must have thought he'd be moving to AJI much earlier?

Doesn't Moira's honorary doctorate count as a degree and recognition of her 25 years of experience? In fact BBC News describe her as a journalist here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/5177274.stm

What is the problem with the Beeb using Moira?

Is she only available certain times of the week or summat?

Great to see her back presenting a primetime bulletin again. Easily one of the best newsreaders the Beeb has.

I just don't get all this fuss about Moira. She talks out of her nose, and seems to have (or at least display) little personality. Give me Kate Silverton on the BBC1 bulletins any day.

I agree Kate is very good, but she should continue to be used for the indepth pieces she did on mother's having children later in life for example.

Moira's apparent nasal delivery is no reason for her not to front the bulletins I feel. Her service over the years and invaluable experience makes her a perfect choice...

As long as Natasha is given fewer rather than more airtime I for one will be extremely happy. I don't think she has the skills to ask questions that the viewer wants to hear or be able to understand the story further. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she isn't being coached in her ear about what to ask!!
