First off - please move this thread if I've put it in the wrong place!
I had the pleasure of watching London Road at the National Theatre this afternoon (a piece of musical theatre reflecting on the Ipswich murders of 2006), and there were several mocked-up news reports as part of the play. They were shown on a small television prop on stage, watched by other characters sitting in their living room. I was amazed by the sheer number of mock-ups there were. I think there was:
BBC News 24
BBC 6 O'Clock News
Five News (although branded 5 news, and didn't look much like the real branding)
ITV News at Ten (although this was called 'The Late News', but it was clearly based on NAT)
Sky News
All of these featured presenters against CSO backgrounds, and reporters on the scene were acting on a different area of the stage, filmed by a camera which was shown live on the television screen. There was also a very clever moment in which there was a two-way between (presumably pre-recorded) studio and the live reporter, conducted in time to music.
I was wondering if any of you have any idea who was behind the recreations, or if you know of any other examples of news recreations on stage like this. I was just very surprised to see so many (good) recreations in quite a small-scale production!
