Thoughts go out to her and her family. I know oh to well what it's like when a family member is moved to a hospice. Sad

sad news indeed. The two North East Tonights are joining back up for a special tribute programme at 6pm.

Showing my ignorance here, did she come from up there or was she an MP for somewhere in that area?

She was born in Watford, went to school in Coventry, and was MP for Redcar between 1987-2001.

Central News West is also leading tonight on tributes to Mowlam.

Well RTE radio one and 2 FM did a lot of talking about here this morning on the respective shows. And had the President McAlesse on speaking about her, as Mo had asked her to get her tickets the All-Ireland Hurling Final in September.

A brave woman who knew how to sort out so many Irish/British men, and get this part of the world on the road to normality.

She will always be Sadly missed and never get to see her Good Friday agreement working in full.

Mo Mowlam was a great personality in politics. She was charming, devoted to her principles + country and had a certain kind of humour that always fascinated me about her. Truly a great palimentarian of this century and a speaker of exceptional skill. It is so tragic that we have lost both Mowlam and Cook in just one month.

Mo Mowlam, you will be missed. My thoughts go out to her family.

Just a shame she didn't run for the party leadership. Could have saved the country a lot of bother if we had Mowlam instead of Blair.

Another sad loss for decent, human politics.

Did BBC Newsline and UTV Live provide dedicated coverage of Mo's death last night?

BBC Radio Kent reporting this afternoon that she has refused food or not been given it (not sure of the semantics) for the past couple of days.

She was unconscious for a month- she wrote a last will stating she did not want to be ressusitated if her condition deteriorated. Her food and water supply was cut off at her request in her will also.
