I'm sorry to say I thought it was awful.
Far too simple in script and patronising for my taste.
I felt like I was watching Newsround not a NAT Special Report.
Even my daughter thought it was childish and I'd not even expressed my opinion on the output.
When will ITN loose this style over substance?
They've got a fantastic archive - let's see it as is, without pretending it's forty years ago and trying to build up tension as to whether the astronauts make it. Which we know because that is why we are celebrating the achievment.

BBC produced "News 44" with Sue Lawley and "News 45" with Martyn Lewis in 1994 and 1995 respectively for 50 years since D/VE Days.

In fact Sue Lawley did them all, stretching right back to News 39 in 1989. In fact, given they featured the same people and used the same set, it was if they just recorded tham all in 1989 and flung them out over the following six years. And before that, they did News 39 in 1979 - Tom Mangold was the "newsreader" this time.

In the summer of 1988, both Children's BBC and Children's ITV did faux-news bulletins for the four hundredth anniversary of the Armada. The Beeb's were presented by John Craven but weren't very interesting as he just stood in anonymous fields talking, like Jackanory or something, but ITV's, with Fiona Armstrong I think, had a proper newsroom set and everything. And were a TSW production, and it was always nice to see one of them on the network.
