What does Sian Williams host on Radio 4? I thought she was part of the Today team but from today's reports it seems not.

Mishal Husain is probably "the best of the rest" when it comes to newsreaders at the moment, and actually probably better than half the people with a regular weekday gig.

Nik has a proper slot and most airtime of them all (0900 -1300 cet), for 3 or 4 days a week.
He shares that with Geeta Guru Murphy most of the time.

Though I have noticed recently Babita seems a lot more ticked off/less friendly on Newsday recently - including cutting in over the top of the Singapore-based presenter during the headlines before they've finished speaking. O

I noticed the same thing too. I hardly watch Newsday since it comes on so late here, but Babita seems quite moody and dry when presenting and seems much less friendly than she was last year.

I must admit, I don't want Babita as Mishal's replacement... whenever she shows up on Newsday, I get the moody attitude from her, like she is saying "I don't deserve to be in this timeslot."

I'd rather have Kasia Madiera, Karin Gianonne... or even Martine Dennis. Very Happy

Yalda Hakim shes great why don't people like her, she has a great voice and she looks great.

I like Yalda, but I guess Brits here doesn't like the way way obvious Aussie accent... but for me, I guess she needs a lot more training and experience. She is still doing those "ummm..." and "ahh..." fillers, as well as those moments you need to be spontaneous (particularly in interviews).

Of course, a senior like Martine would deserve it and would be the best choice over all the new and no so impressive additions World has gathered through the years.
She is underused right now, doing only weekends and Friday mornings.

Just as long as she remembers the program is targeted at the Asian audience and shouldn't refer to 'The top stories this afternoon' Rolling Eyes

Did Mishal managed to say goodbye to her viewers on Impact? Btw, when was her last Impact edition, and did she knew of her transfer then? Lucy Hockings has been doing Impact all week, I wonder who will be her relief now that she's the 'interim full-time'. Naga Munchetty has been missing for 2 days, wonder if they're prepping her up? She was on World Today on Mon, Tue-Martine, Wed-Alice Baxter.

Regarding Martine Dennis and Peter Dobbie, I have a feeling these presenters probably wanted a more relaxed position now that they've been at it for so many years, the less regular work translates to more time for personal activities. They're like going into semi-retirement it seems.

Good humor there, yes she always says "this morning" without considering that she's talking to the world, which can be any time of day.

To be fair, I haven't seen much of her because I don't see much of World News, but from what I have seen and what I've been told, she isn't very good. Not a great ad-libber, not particularly good at interviews. Maybe she's improved in the last few months but she didn't seem to be any great shakes to me.

She hasn't been on World studios for some time from my knowledge, unless she appear at a time when I'm sleeping. Last time I saw her, she usually does the slot before and after Impact, whereby Ros Atkins nowadays present. She has been on field duty recently, somewhere in Pakistan, comforting the families affected by the disaster. I saw her hugging someone in her promo. Yes, she isn't very good yet at the studios, she mixed up stuff in reading the news, and she has a lot to improve for emerging/fluid situations like breaking news or interviews, where she has to come up with the appropriate questions or sentences without much aid. I am actually okay with her accent, she doesn't sound too Aussie.,Daniela Ritorto's is more Aussie imo. Overall, she's young, pretty and is not yet very experienced. (Ros Atkins is actually becoming quite watchable nowadays.)

It's interesting to note that in today's World Today, Mishal Husain's picture was plastered on quite a number papers, and while doing newspaper reviews, they just choose to ignore the story behind those big star-like pics of Mishal on the front page. I think for those not in the know, might be suddenly surprised and say "Hey isn't that face familiar?".

I get the impression that being on BBC Radio 4's Today program is such a big deal, to the point of saying that if you are in Today... then you have "made it."

Here in the Philippines, Radio is so secondary to Television & Internet that they sort of considered being on AM radio as a downgrade...

I've picked up on that too! She says "it's one in the morning in London," with her mouth but it looks as if she's saying, "Everything about this programme is beneath me, my co-presenters, the timeslot and the graphics, I'm just waiting until Zeinab retires," judging by her lack of visual expression, which is a shame because she was hands-down one of the best business presenters going on the NC.

I think she would be a good replacement for Impact though, provided that she did a bit more work out in the field - and in fairness, Newsday is a bit bland, most of the guests are professors from Midwestern US universities on a poor web connection, unlike Impact who manage to get a range of guests both in-studio and from Asia.

Did she do another program after the Bangladesh factory collapse report? I actually thought that the program was quite good. I guess she's a better journalist than she is a presenter.
