Mishal Husain joins R4's Today programme

No idea how this affects her TV work - it could be it doesn't have that much of impact if she's only with them part time (for now, at least, there'll be six presenters?), but the likes of but all the current Today presenters gave up their daily television slots.

James Naughtie is going part time to cover Scottish independence for a while. Looks like this is a longer-term plan to replace John Humphrys - isnt he on a two year contract? By the time that's up, James Naughtie will be back full time, along with the other five. Or, perhaps John will reduce to a day or so a week by then?

Maybe it will be like Jon Sopel, unlike him... since R4 Today is on a different timeslot, maybe it will not affect he show on BBC World News.

I can imagine her continuing on network bulletin, and probably her World News interview/debate series, but I think we'll see her sign off Impact and World News soon. That would follow the path the other Today show presenters took.

Think I'd prefer Emily Maitlis, though.

I wonder whose going to take over from Mishal at Impact, or maybe they'll replace wasn't there talks of Yalda Hakim getting her own programme although maybe that just disappeared like Lyse Doucet's programme that never launched back in 2010.

I'd take a punt on Babita Sharma, they seem to be grooming her for bigger things...

It'd be nice to give Nik Gowing a proper slot back.

Nik has a proper slot and most airtime of them all (0900 -1300 cet), for 3 or 4 days a week.

I think Lucy Hockings would be a good replacement on Impact imo..

I'd go for Babita too, with Kasia replacing her on Newsday with Daniela at weekends.
