How big is this news story on a worldwide scale - 1-10 rated?

Pretty big - I can't really think of anything like it in recent times. 9/11 of course, but that was a different type of event. I read somewhere about the Springhill Mine Disaster in Canada in 1958 - it attracted similar world attention, but there was no news channels then.

This looks like it's going to continue well into the early morning programmes. So Daybreak will be get to cover it's first live breaking story.

Tim: "I don't want to be anal but it's actually 28 inches."

Matt: "Oh is it, well those few inches make a big difference."

Tim: "They do, yes. Especially at our age."

Matt: "Yeah well, let's not go there!"

Well this surprise live view from inside the mine has certainly made up for the disappointing delays.

Why are the miners filming the rescuer? Bizarre.

Yes, I can't believe the rescue worker is hugging all the miners. They must absolutely stink, I wouldn't go near them.
