Mike Neville has died

Here's the report on the first night of main evening programmes from "The Pink Palace" about how they moved across town between the Friday 2128 bulletin and Saturday afternoon sport bulletin, plus Mike's arrival on Monday. Some clips from this were used in the obits but it's interesting to see the rest of it. I think there's even a bit of self op pres desk action for those of you that are interested in how that bit worked (it's discussed on here quite often!)

Yes, that's the COW being unscrewed from the rack ready for transportation across town.

Amazing how big that is when you could probably generate it from something the size of a matchbox these days.

I particularly love the thought that Newcastle's globe wasn't spinning, but a quick vacuuming of the COW generator got it going again.

Amazing what you could do by reseating a few boards and giving it a quick go with a hoover or a blast of air.
