Evening Standard were reporting last night that he has left because he didn't relish the idea of being transferred to Manchester.

So my speculation seems to have been accurate according to your quoted report.

Firstly...and all this is merely subjective opinion of course...

Completely agree with all you say. I remember a couple of months ago at the time of the Setanta collapse he was wheeled onto the news channel and didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He kept saying he had inside knowledge and that 'his sources' were telling him information but it was all widely available anyway.

As a sign of his tendency to overlook the important, a blog he wrote for the BBC on the ramifications of the Setanta collapse failed to mention the damaging costs to football conference clubs.

If that was the sole reason though why would he go immediately?

It had also been reported though that he had travelled out to see his sick mother, so perhaps he had been granted a secondment but later decided to resign altogether, which might have seen his secondment cover the time he was contractually obliged to work? Just speculation.

Nice post, Mr. Paisley.

Additionally, I fully agree with others' comments about Robert Peston. I cringe when he appears on screen. But I tend to disagree with the comments about Robin Oakley. After moving to CNN, I feel that he had settled-in nicely to tv presentation. Remember, in his days at BBC News, he had big shoes to fill (I.e. endless decades of John Cole!), so it probably took audiences longer to warm to him.

Mihir Bose just seemed like a fish out of water. Clearly knew his stuff, but Bob Paisley otherwise sums it up perfectly for me.

With reference to Bose I was never a fan of his presentational skills personally but I and I'm sure the rest of TV Forum wish him all the best with his future.

Talking of reporters... I haven't seen Gary Donahue on for a while... is he on Holiday?
