It's being announced on Twitter that Michael Sullivan has passed away. Those of you who remember the Brian Barron, Kate Adie, Bob Friend eras will also undoubtedly remember Michael Sullivan. The man who made silver hair a fashionable trademark long before Tim Willcox ever did!

Michael was known for covering major world events during his time at BBC News, as well as UK and NI stints from time to time. He would also often be seen outside The Old Bailey, reporting on some major criminal case or other.

I remember him most for presenting BBC News After Noon and The Early Evening News during the Falklands Crisis, notably filling-in on Richard Baker's days off.

RIP Michael.
