The generic 'BBC News' terminology meant that BBC1 viewers were not explicitly told to turn over to the news channel for more news, just to watch 'BBC News'

that might well be because BBC World News was also simulcasting.

Nothing to do with the channel being called BBC News, then?

Again leading me to think this is a World/NC simulcast - presumably Tim was doing a shift on World.

You can hear the disbelief in some of these reporters voices. Perhaps not an entirely unexpected event given his health, but this is hugely momentous news when a major international figure has died. John Lennon etc.

No, as they would often say 'News Channel ' so people know preceisely. But BBC World News viewers won't be familiar with the term 'News Channel'. Regardless, now is not the time for arguing this moot point. If my previous comment came across as sarcastic, I apologise, this was not meant to be the case.

Sky News have also now removed the 'unconfirmed' caveat and are reporting his death as fact.

I think it is. My brother in New Zealand is seeing the same programme that I'm seeing on Freeview.

CNN finally get around to the child molestation allegations. Remind viewers he was acquitted, then talk about his unhealthy relationship with kids.

CNN showing a lot of clips from his music vids too - are BBC / Sky doing likewise?

EDIT: And of course at midnight, it's Super Casino.

No clearly been put together before, its weird wouldn't of thought they'd have one on file for someone who's just 50, but they clearly have plenty of them.
