Are ITV doing anything continuous? We're not privy to it here in UTV land unfortunately.

Did UTV get the news flash? What about STV?

UTV's schedule is currently timeshifted by half an hour to make way for UTV Live Tonight at 10:30pm. Trial & Retribution won't be over until midnight so we never got the newsflash.

I think it's quite obvious which version of the story ITV/ITN are going with!

How was that handled with News 24 - was there an odd gap or did they explain to the audience that BBC1 were joining them? STV took the flash btw.

Chopper ident and anno saying "we now join BBC News for a news report" or words to that effect.

This week now continuing

You couldn't tell from News 24 that BBC One had joined, apart from Tim saying 'you're watching a BBC News Newsflash'.

They've now directed BBC1 viewers to the News Channel and headed to This Week.

Think its fair to say its pretty definite now.

BBC1 now back with This Week.

The generic 'BBC News' terminology meant that BBC1 viewers were not explicitly told to turn over to the news channel for more news, just to watch 'BBC News'

No surprise CNN are simulcasting The Situation Room as usual, which of course is focusing on this. Be interesting to see whether they have the sense not to switch to Live Roulette at midnight on Freeview though.

Actually having been watching rolling coverage on News 24, I can tell now where BBC One must have cut in as there was certainly an awkward pause a few minutes ago before continuing a 'you're watching a BBC News Special'.

that might well be because BBC World News was also simulcasting.

Sadly I'm betting contractually they'll have to.

Better switch to BBC News (80) or Sky News (82) Freeview-ers!
