I saw Kevin Bakhurst on Newswatch last night trying (and in my view totally failing) to convince everybody that the BBC were right to have simulcasted the Jackson Memorial on BBC 2 and the News channel.
Is he that arrogant in real life, or does he just put it on for the cameras ?
Rating success for everyone it seems
BBC2 averaged 4million
Five averaged 1.2 million
Sky News averaged 919,000 and peaked at over 1million giving them their largest peak audience since the start of the Iraq War
Sky Arts peaked at 143,000, it's best performance so far this year

This clip will probably get removed...

The above was taken from 'You have been watching' which showed an ITN report where they had compared Michael Jackson's funeral to Princess Diana's. Unsurprisingly ITN hastily pulled the report (presumably on grounds of taste) and had been attempting to remove the copies which kept getting uploaded to YouTube. I guess they won't have been too happy that Charlie Brooker showed the full clip and pointed this out.

It's towards the end of the first part. Even if just online, shocking that came from ITN. Wouldn't be too surprised if it was from the US or put up by one of our tabloids, or heck, even Sky News - but from ITN. A distinct lack of judgement me thinks.
By the way, if you don't want to know the score, look away now...

It was extraordinarily poor taste.
"Diana's coffin, or casket was an understated affair with a flag draped over, but Michael, well... the King certainly had his bling with a gold plated box"

Yes, somebody needs to have a word with the person(s) who thought that report would be a good idea.
Someone needs to be sacked.
