I was pointing out the customary practice of praising somone's virtues immediately after their death rather than jumping in with negative comments. The news organisations have followed this practice since Jackson's death was confirmed.
I am no particular fan of Jackson, so I won't be joining any 'mourn-fest' on DS or elsewhere. I joined this thread to comment on the fact that it was a quickly developing news story which caused disruption to TV schedules. Now that's over, I have little interest in the subject.
Hymagumba's original comment was aimed to ridicule the poster rather than make a sensible contribution to the thread. That was obvious, and his later attempt to justify it was equally weak.
The thread is clearly about news coverage of an event, nothing more!
This is a man who was known as "wacko jacko" by virtually everyone, including his fans. He was an eccentric person, and to ignore that whole part of his life because it's not nice and cuddly is just as wrong as someone making out that he was a kiddy fiddler who happened to get lucky with a couple of songs.
The whole baby dangling incident was a major news story in his life, and everybody at the time was talking about it. If you want to pretend he was some sort of perfect deity and could do no wrong, why not go off to DS and join in with their mourn-fest.
Edit to clarify: I'm not trying to say he wasn't worth nowt, but lets celebrate who he was, eccentricities and all. Who else owns their own theme park?!
