...no obviouslly not then - been a long day for alastair - LN, LT, NAT and now this!!

I doubt ITV1 will bother with further news reports specifically for this. Nothing further is going to develop now, aside from the gathering of fans outside the UCLA Medical Centre where he died - and that's of more interest to the US networks.

EDIT: They didn't bother at the 01:25 junction.

A quick search on t'internet shows the following rather brief page on Jackson's website.

Up until an hour ago that site page was showing links for tickets for the O2 shows, but the actual site itself was inaccessible.

O2 Arena site also inaccessible.

I imagine they might be worth something on eBay after a while.

Here's the bulletin on ITV1 shown at 0:45 (approx).

I've slapped front/endboards on it myself to show the copyright (but despite my courtesy in such matters I still get chased down the cyber street by BBC, ITV & C4 for my internet offerings). I daren't put it on my new YouTube account (after the last one got suspended) so you'll have to settle for the Bucket - lol!

Sky News played most of 'Don't Stop til You Get Enough' just there. Nice to include some of the music uninterrupted as part of the coverage.

They've just shown the clips of Jackson dangling his child over a balcony as well Rolling Eyes

why the rolling eyes?

I think that perhaps Chie was trying to indicate that the baby-dangling episode wasn't an appropriate sequence to show during such a short obituary sequence. It's hardly the defining aspect of Jackson's life.

Correct.

which one of the clips of his more unusual antics would have been appropriate then? Him with bubbles? going round the zoo with the viels over the kids? The mask wearing years?

Whether he is dead or not, the oddness of the mans life was a major part of him and his newsworthyness, therefore its entirely appropriate to show such a clip during a montage as it is a more accurate protrayal than simply clip after clip of singing, which he did precious little of during the last decade.

Perhaps it's something to do with being respectful and polite. An alien emotion for you no doubt, even after someone has died, but rather obvious to most normal people.

I'm sure there will be many bitchy documentaries you can revel in, which will focus on the negative aspects of Jackson's life in the months and years to come. I don't think now is the time to portray that, do you?

Anyway, absolutely unconfirmed but reports from New Zealand actor Jeff Goldblum has also died today in an accident on set.

(though now reported Harrison Ford has already died, so buckets of salt required!)

This is a man who was known as "wacko jacko" by virtually everyone, including his fans. He was an eccentric person, and to ignore that whole part of his life because it's not nice and cuddly is just as wrong as someone making out that he was a kiddy fiddler who happened to get lucky with a couple of songs.

The whole baby dangling incident was a major news story in his life, and everybody at the time was talking about it. If you want to pretend he was some sort of perfect deity and could do no wrong, why not go off to DS and join in with their mourn-fest.

Edit to clarify: I'm not trying to say he wasn't worth nowt, but lets celebrate who he was, eccentricities and all. Who else owns their own theme park?!

On a media related matter why haven't BBC World News double headed a presenter with Alastair Yates who is broadcasting Worldwide across all the BBC News TV Outlets and having to handle everything single handedly - he is an experienced news journo but its such a fast developing story it needs double heading. Earlier in the evening Tim Willcox joined Martine Croxall on the news channel so why single head Alastair?
