I may be wrong, but I've always been led to believe that news presenters are not allowed to appear in adverts. Perhaps someone decided that No Wet Wonderfoam causes a conflict.

I think Glen has been presenting the weekend Meridian News bulletins recently, just not the main weekday programme. There was a clip introduced by him on ITV Local for Hastings when I looked the other day.

Meanwhile on Meridian East they had their problems. Helen James fluffed her lines repeatedly and kept trying to read Ian axton's lines.

The link to Sports girl Sarah Saunders failed so they had to do the sports stories themselves.

Why can't we see more of Glen Thomsett on the east edition of Meridian Tonight when the resident anchor Phil Hornby is off. He was a regular before the whole thing moved to its new base, he's local, knows and IS known in the area and comes over as a likeable guy. It now seems to be a complete free-for-all with every Tom Dick and Harry having a go. Basics of telly and radio - keep up the continuity - people DON'T like change - just watch those audience figures take a dive - that is if they haven't already!!!!???

I surf a few of the shopping channels and haven't seen the No Wet Wonder thing for a few months now - maybe they ran out of soap suds!!
Just goes to prove that Glen is quite versatile in what he can do - at least he has the abilty to ad-lib his way out of a paper bag.

Meridian SouthEast is still one of the very few ITV regional news programmes which consistently beats the BBC in audience share. Catch it on ITV Local (click on Hastings, then News).

Oh, and to all you Fred and Debbie lovers, it murders Meridian South (and West) in the ratings!

They are Meridian South.

Phil and Charlotte (SouthEast) do their best to compete with Fred and Debs but Phil still reads the news like a little schoolboy! Mad Laughing

Well, Good old Fred. Phil and Charlotte try too hard and get the crew to play with the special camera effects in the studio- makes it stupid.

Interesting this evening, (I think) we had Phil and Charlotte reading the news and later on Thompsett the Giant did the ITV News headline bed.

anyway....

There's little doubt the ratings are good for the south-east edition; after all, that's why it was the first sub-region to go on satellite; but, I have to say that, in my opinion, Fred and Debbie's presentation is the best of the three Meridians.

Fred and Debbie link between item about panto and the weather

Fred "that could be us up there"
Debbie "yes"
Fred "in the pantomime horse i mean"
Debbie "and which of us are you suggesting is taking up the rear?"
Fred "are you trying to get us taken off the air?"
Debbie - looks bemused as Fred quickly throws to the weather

marvellous

Just a pity we can't have more of Thompsett the Giant on the main show. At least he's got more of a personality that the little hunchback man. Laughing
