I saw Monday's south edition of Meridian Tonight with Fred and Debbie for the first time in ages.
I was pleased that despite all the upheaval at Meridian it was still quite a good programme - and Hugh Kirby's report from Madrid was excellent - but I thought the Mike Pearse report from New York was a little too blatant in terms of free publicity for Virgin Atlantic. Running the competition is one thing, but filling several minutes of the programme with such gushing PR nonsense is quite another.

The constant stories about animals new homes at the zoo annoy me. "Two Giraffes named Dippy and Dodger have moved from Australia and are now taking up residence at blah blah zoo.."
*yawn*
We had a South bulletin at the weekend by accident. We saw the transmission clock for South East and it tried to show the SE bulletin but there was no sound and only one camera angle, so we ended up with Meridian South instead.

Though Robin is no longer a regular member of the network team, having been demoted to ITV London along with Chrissie Reidy.
It's just Martyn, Sian and Becky on the national weather now.

Could ITV weather be doing what the BBC do during the summer, and providing a member of the network team to a region to do the local forecasts, to cover summer holidays in the regional team?

How on earth Becky even got a job at Anglia is beyond me. On the rare occasion that ITV is on my television, she makes sure it's switched off promptly. Along with that female announcer with the awful Southern Accent. Ugh.
