Why am I not surprised to see this thread?

Everytime there's a whiff of any news that's just slightly unusual, the anoraks all converge on here keeping tabs on what the news channels are doing. Does anyone apart from you really care?

I'm also slightly worried that an explosion at an oil depot is instantly assumed to be terrorism by the news channels - especially the BBC. It's almost as if the BBC *wants* it to be terrorism. Jeeeez.

Oil explosion in the home counties. No one hurt. Lots of dramatic photos. Not terrorism.

Can we move on? Nope! The news channels will string this one out until the middle of the week when they'll have their chief reporter filming the last smouldering cinder being extinguished.

Looking at my PVR cache, ITV NC only showed one repeat of the Morning News, with Sian Jones appearing live with the breaking news at 6.30. They had pictures at about 7.10.

By 8.20 they had an Anglia reporter in-vision at the scene.

You PVR the ITV News channel at night? Christ almighty, you must have absolutely no life.

Rolling Eyes Laughing I should have expected a smart-arse comment.

Actually, it was running on that from when I was last watching any TV yesterday morning, so when I woke up and heard the news, I just rewound through the cache to see how the story broke.

(anyway, as I have DTT, all I would get if I recorded it overnight is a blank screen Very Happy )

I'm a little surprised BBC ONE is broadcasting NEWS 24 - if I lived near Hemel Hempstead and woke up with no windows or doors I'd want to know what the hell was going on.

Not everyone has access to news channels.

I must admit the only time I heard any other news today was from Mhoira on Sunday AM...there is a world outside Hemel Hempstead...

I presume BBC Three Counties Radio is doing the full public information effort.

This wasn't something "slightly unusual"; this was an absolutely spectacular explosion that woke up most of London, and which was felt miles and miles away. At the time, eyewitness reports suggested that they had seen an aircraft flying into the oil terminal, and thus it was an even more significant incident.

Also, your assertion that the BBC pushed the idea of the incident being related to terrorism, I'm afraid you're simply talking boIIocks. The only persons who suggested a terrorist link were the eyewitnesses who called in; the BBC were also the first to report that the aircraft link had been conclusively eliminated, and since then they have repeatedly pointed out that there is no reason to think that this was terrorism. Sky News were equally responsible in not jumping to the conclusion that this was a terrorist act, nor indeed speculating as to such a possibility.

The title of the thread is clear; if you don't like threads like this, don't click on the link, and certainly don't bother trying to ruin it for everyone else. What's the point? Does it make you feel superior to imply that everyone else is sad because they're discussing something that you're not interested in? You're a long-standing member of a forum that discusses television presentation and news programming and channels. I'm afraid that, despite your pÌssy attitude, that makes you just as sad as the rest of us.

That's their problem, then.

I personally don't give a toss if there's an explosion in Hertfordshire. It's on the other side of the country to me, and to be honest I don't think anyone else outside of the centre of the universe (aka London), gives a damn either.

No darling, you can not tar us all with the same brush.

I cannot remember the last time I actually started a thread in either TV Home Forum or this one. I, like most other "long-standing" members have lost interest in this site, mainly because it's over-run with cretins like yourself (side note: what the hell is that signature meant to be? You pleasuring yourself over the News 24 logo?!)), with a little too much time on their hands.

We don't give a toss about you either, Troutie.

I'd love to see a psychological analysis of you and your superiority complex.

So let me get this clear: you're bored with this site, but you keep returning. You find threads like this tedious, but you choose to read them. You're tired of watching news channels covering news that you find irrelevant for extended periods, but you continue to watch them and then complain.

Sounds to me like you have a few issues to resolve with yourself before slagging off others. Either you have psychological issues regarding the correlation between personal preferences and choice of actions, or you're just a masochist.

The one thing that ruins TV Forum more than anything else is cretins like yourself picking fights with people discussing topics that are entirely relevant to the subject matter of the site, and attempting to belittle those who don't concur with the consensus of a small, bitchy clique who feel that it is their right to make the rules. The vast majority of us are here to enjoy the occasional diversion that the forum provides to us without filling every post with vitriolic abuse and patronising commentary. As you've already stated that you're bored with the forum, and claimed that you're not as sad as the rest of us, and as your misguided act of superiority suggests that you have no interest at all in the subject matter to which this site is dedicated, it's pretty clear to even the least intelligent mind that your only purpose here is to cause trouble, offend others and launch scathing attacks on people who are simply trying to enjoy the site. To my mind, it's genuinely sad that you feel the need to make yourself feel better by picking on others who are doing absolutely nothing but discussing something that you don't find interesting.

Incidentally, thanks for your comments on my signature, though I again find it risible that you should attempt to defend your misguided actions and infantile comments by making a completely irrelevant attack to deflect attention away from yourself. Amusing, but coming from you, very predictable.
