The Mark Austin's Catchphrase thread

I don't think it becomes the Nightly News until ITV rebrands in a couple of weeks. So maybe he is waiting until then to unveil his new catchphrase, or maybe he still hasn't got one!!!

It would be rather amusing if he adopted one of the catchphrases suggested in this thread, ratings would fly through the roof.

He seems to have gone with

"And that's the way our world looks tonight"

Bit of a naff Tev rip off.

Maybe his catchphrase will have its debut on Monday?

"Right, that's done, I'm off for a fag."

Why launch a catchprhrase with a slight difference in setting? All he says every evening is "thank you for watching".

I think so too. Or he just hasn't found one.

Maybe with the show rebranding as the Nightly News on Monday he could nick their old slogan (from 1999) and say "That was tomorrow's news today"

You'll actually find that the sign off 'That's the way the world looks tonight' is a 'rip off' of two signs off used by Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News. His other was 'And that's part of our world tonight'. If you're going to criticise, then make sure you know your facts first...

He could of went with
"And that is our day, today"

I quite like 'That was today tonight, goodnight'.

"That was the ITV Nightly News. I've got to run, last tube's in ten minutes."

"I'll be back tomorrow...and the next day....and the next day......oh the humanity...."

"And that's the news tonight. Tomorrow it's SATURDAY which means I get a day in the boozer with Alistair Stewart watching the footie. And some random girl from London Tonight will be doing this shower. So try to have a pleasant weekend, I know some of you will have to work. Just think of me sipping the Amber Nectar. Nighty Night!" ----- " The ITV News Is Sponsored By Fosters - Cool, Crisp and Clear - everything ITV News Isn't."
