This is a really bizarre thread. What is it supposed to be doing?????

"From Moira Stuart and from me..........................have a peaceful weekend......" (Sissons, 1990)

"That's it, that's all" (Hayton, 1998)

"That's the news from us tonight. Goodnight". (Gall)

well that was a strange reply.

I want him to do a musical number. Maybe if he sings the theme tune and a load of backing dancers come in along the catwalk then it would make the show more watchable.

Maybe he could do a little dance to the theme tune. Eurovision style of course.

Or he could just hum along to the music.

"You can turn over to the ITV News Channel now for all the latest, only joking, we axed that so the bosses could save money, well infact most of it has been split between myself, Mary and Sir Trevor. Trevor got the most money, suprising you get less(only presenting for 2days a week) for more (money) on the black market. Oh well, i could suggest you go to itv.com/news but our department for that are based at a local primary school, and there closed now, oh well im off to bed now, and maybe one night you can join me. Good Night and God Bless the BBC

Borrowing a Kent Brockman outcue:

"More on those stories tomorrow, or you can turn to another channel."

After a five second delay:

"Oh. DO NOT turn to another channel."

Maybe he could just fall asleep at the newsdesk in the middle of saying 'thank you for watching'.

Slightly off topic, but what happens to Nina when Katie comes back?

It's been discussed many times, and the answer is nobody really knows. My guess is that she will become a stand-in, especially since Catherwood is to retun shortly aswell.

That's the only option - I imagine she will be primary stand-in and anchor many Friday night bulletins, whether with Network or ITV London.

Re: Nina - I suspect the most likely option is for Nina to take over London Tonight, with Katie staying on the Lunchtime News. Nina could then cover for Katie, Katie cover for Mary and Felicity cover for Nina.

Anyway back on topic - I notice tonight the BBC News goes head to head with the bulletin as they both go out at 10.30pm. Seems BBC still on their Christmas schedules, while ITN back to normal today.

As for the catchphrase:

"Not that hard to step into Trevor's shoes afterall, is it!"

nice one Brekkie Boy.

Mark Austin hasn't changed his catchphrase since taking over the Nightly News, he still says 'thanks for watching'. Maybe that's best.
