BBC doesn't have any money to spend at the moment on flashy idiot-pleasing irrelevancies.

Besides which, I fail to see what is out of date about them. They hit the trend of moving to flat, simple colours well before the trend for such things happened, and they are the only set of graphics I can remember that aren't beset by regular glitches and problems.

In the image AlejoBBC posted, you can see how they've taken the newest additions to their graphics in a slightly different direction, and yet it still fits in with the overall package. I think they've got plenty of life in them yet.

Now, now... No need for name calling.

Indeed, "Auntie doesn't have any money".

The current BBC graphics IMO are so far past is expiry date....

In what way? Yeah, they're not perfect, but they look fine and do the job.

It would be nice though for our national broadcaster to have ambitions beyond "look fine and do the job."

I've never really been a fan of these graphics so nobody will be too surprised I agree with Mouseboy33 - I think as bilky asko said they've actually got to a point where they're on trend now. For the regular bulletins I don't really think they look dated, but do agree the Breaking News graphics could do with refining - blocks of solid red are not that visually appealling.

We're constantly being told the BBC doesn't have any money to waste...yet they keep finding enough for utterly pointless stuff like the 'BBC Music Awards' and, until recently, 'The Voice'. I'm sure they could find enough money to bring BBC News into the 21st century (or even the 20th century) if they wanted to. I agree with Mouseboy & Brekkie , Modern doesn't necessarily have to mean "OTT and/or "flashy". Channel 4 News, on a fraction of BBC's budget, has a contemporary yet authoritative image. As do other European PSB's. "fine" = Beige

I've never really had a problem with the BBC News graphics, the current set are an evolution on the 2008-2013 package.

The only two tweaks i'd make would be the Breaking News aston to remain with the animated/textured background when it moves from the single line text to the double lined version, rather than simply plain. With the DOG and ticker being the same colour palett it can look a bit too red.

The other tweak would be for the #BBCPapers to remain on screen when an aston appears, rather than dissapearing when the aston is removed and the gallery op having to put it back on screen again. Niggly thing but must be a pain for the Director.

NB - Sorry for moving off-topic.

But many other PSBs and Channel Four News only have one or two studios and galleries to worry about - not 20+...
