Malaysia Airlines Plane Crash Coverage

No countdown or headlines at 5pm because of the breaking news with the Malaysian Airlines plane crash. The handover to Julian Worricker was messy, it was cut before they finished speaking and after he'd started speaking.

World now joining Julian Worricker at 1730 UKT, following Jon Sopel concluding his final Global.

Have to say that Julian is handling this brilliantly, hardly any hesitation in his ad libbing and delivering the news in a very calm and clear manner

Its times like this that NBC misses the old Today show studio . . . the backdrop of the sofa and the 'studio apartment' is perhaps not the best look for a major breaking news operation.

I wonder if there's a reason why they can't fire up the Nightly News studio for these circumstances. I'm sure MSNBC have enough spare studios.

Also, I have to say its rather interesting to watch and listen to the RT coverage of this story.
