I love it how people are comparing the likeness of John Sergeant to Jo Brand! It happens every time Very Happy

It's quite notable that many of the BBC's location presenters are just popping up randomly rather than being introduced or even Astoned. Has the commentator even been introduced or mentioned by name yet?

I think the BBC coverage has been far too random and seems rather unplanned. Fearne Cotton? Angellica Bell? John Sargeant? Matt and Sophie seems far too excitable for the BBC, something I'd expect when watching ITV.

He was introduced right at the start and referred to just now: Paul Dicksenson.

I've noticed the lack of any graphics whatsoever apart from the email & Twitter captions at the very start with Huw.

I can't remember the BBC commentator's name, but I think he's normally on the London Marathon and Great North Run coverage.

After the excellent warm up from BBC News this morning, the main show has been rather disjointed with no mention of who's reporting (although blooming Fearne Cotton got introduced by Matt and Sophie) and a poor selection of presenters from the Ents pool.

However, Matt Baker who usually irritates the hell out of me on The One Show and Countryfile has been excellent co-presenting, but is the exception.

Finding Sky News' coverage far superior at the minute (flicking between the two). They have rightly had the focus on the pageant itself instead of cutting to reports for opinion from members of the public. I read on Twitter that just as they were raising Tower Bridge they cut to Fearne Cotton?!

Is true and BBC1/NC also 'knighted' Tess Daly! Rolling Eyes

I tuned over to Sky just before 5 and bar a short ad break, their coverage has been spot on.

I agree. I'm flicking between the two as well. Sky is the only option for the moment. BBC has some ridiculous pantomime going on, with someone doing a skit in the presence of Sian Williams. Utter rubbish.

Alastair wotsit on Sky is great!

That was their first ad break, at least since I gave up on the BBC at around 2:30. I switched back to the beeb during that break and it was Angelica Bell and a Jubilee baby feature...quickly back to Sky.

The BBC seem to have gone for personality over pageant this afternoon, with Sky doing the complete opposite.

Back to rolling boat coverage on the BBC, you can switch back now.

Somebody had to say it, even if he's not involved...
