The Royal Family they may be but surely they deserve some basic human courtesy when it comes to such medical matters - even the information released yesterday wasn't enough and journalists were prying for more information when there was little more to the story than the Queen having the ****.

Agreed. I watched BBC News from 4pm when the news was announced. They had Nicholas Witchell in the studio to discuss it. IMO it should have ended at that but they then went on to speak to a doctor, daily express correspondent, Jennie Bond and I think someone else. None of this really added anything extra and the detail they went into was quite unnecessary at times.

I agree there is very little to talk about other that the simple fact that she is sick. All the rest tends to be b*****it from people simply speculating, including the various GPs blabbering on about what the queen might have/have not. However, on the other hand I think the channels would come in for a lot of criticism if all they gave to the story was two minutes at the top of the hour (even though theres nothing more to add) given that it is the head of state that is in hospital.

Sky were a lot worse, the BBC stayed on Click when the story broke and returned to 'other news' a lot sooner.

Incidently, I wonder if the timing of Cardinal Keith O'Brien's statement this afternoon wasn't exactly a co-incidence? Not that it worked, both news channels moved onto it when they got bored with The Queen

My dentist has Heat in it's waiting room, it's very useful as a mild anaesthetic

HM The Queen will officially open the new BBC Headquarters today. One has to wonder if one shall see One in the background during the One O'clock News. Now, that would be nice!

And Prince Phillip in hospital is being covered quite extensively on BBC World News...........I presume it's also wall to wall back in Blighty?

Yes, of course it's an extraordinary situation, apparently the first time in recorded history that a 91 year old
has had a medical problem, and blow me down with a feather, it's someone we've all heard of, the Duke of Edinburgh. Amazing eh ?

Why have you taken an existing unrelated thread and changed it's title? Why didn't you start a new thread?

It's been generically "Royal News Coverage" for the last several months.

Was just wondering, did Sky News cover the Queen's visit to the BBC live?
