Newswatch got much the same response.

Pretty shameful that they wouldn't put anybody up for Points of View or Newswatch. Smacks of arrogance.

Plus I thought the female viewer they interviewed on Newswatch made a really good point as well ... that the BBC should take viewer feedback a bit more seriously, rather than just patting itself on the back in the face of fairly widespread criticism.

That said, I bet their Olympics coverage will be spot on!

The BBC can take viewer feedback seriously without having someone appear on Points of View.

Their only televised programme for viewer feedback would be a good place to start though, I'd say.

and the fact it was a major national programme, that the bbc would have probably spent quite a bit in staffing and whatnot.

As said above, i think it's very bad to just ignore the thousands who had complained because millions more did not complain.

Could you imagine if C4 took that approach over Big Brother racism row or any other broadcaster for that matter relating to complaints.

While I accept that the BBC can't please everyone, there doesn't seem to be a acknowledgement that thousands did not like it and coverage was critically panned.

Why is it so many people jump on the bandwagon of criticising the BBC for absolutely anything they can think of? Quite seriously, I thought the coverage was fine. So some professional critics, notably in the ultra conservative press, thought it wasn't up to scratch, doesn't mean all their readers should pile on as well. Technical problems aside, and you're going to get them in a major event like this, and the Olympics for that matter, I didn't think the BBC did a bad job at all. But then every broadcaster seemed to up their game for this and I think nobody disgraced themselves.

Well that is your opinion like some have the opinion that the BBC's coverage was not as good as it should have been.

Just because you think it was fine does not mean that it was fine. Just as i didn't think it was good doesn't mean that it wasn't, what we do want it for BBC to address both sides.

I think half the problem is that the right win press harp on all the time at the BBC. Even now they're criticising silly things like getting someone's name wrong when that's just a verbal slip. That might be why the BBC is ignoring a lot of the noise as they think it's the usual whinging, when it goes further than that...
