Absolutely and wholeheartedly agree. For the moments I've turned to the BBC they've been uninspiringly dull, whereas ITV1 has again pitched the tone exactly right - IMHO.
Yes, these days the BBC just cannot get it right. They either try to copy ITV's more lively style but make a mess of it with ill-timed features and cringeworthy "celebrity" presenters like Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton. Or they go the other way and ends up being very dull and boring. They can't seem to strike a balance. I think ITV has benefited today from all of its presenters (except Phillip Schofield, but he adds a lighter touch to proceedings) being journalists rather than the celebrity presenters the BBC so often use. The likes of Alastair, Mary, Nina and even Natasha have been very competent today.

Can I just say how wonderful the ITV coverage is today? Miles ahead of the BBC's effort on Sunday. It's down to earth, but factually rich thanks to David Starkey without unnecessary 'features' at inappropriate times. In fact, the portions of the programme with Alastair, Mark, Mary, Nina and Natasha have been enjoyable and well-timed. A sterling effort by ITN today.

Completely agree. Julie and Phil, James Mates at the service, Mark Austin on the Mall, Mary, Nina and Natasha. Polished, lively, professional, interesting, never trite or inane. BBC were always going to struggle to match this line-up, and they've failed (again).

... or Chris Hollins
Huw is single handedly rescuing BBC coverage.
I'm not sure who I find more annoying - David Starkey or Fearne Cotton
