I think they are just sceptical of it's importance in the wider news agenda. To an extent they have a point. Nigerian plane crash, Syria etc all far more important. But you can't ignore the number of people celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and not cover it. And they have conveyed that in their reports
The only times I have known AJE to devote much coverage to the Royal Family is the Queen's Ireland visit, and her New York UN speech. The Ireland visit was clearly historical and fitted into the wider story of the Northern Ireland Peace Process and acknowledgement of past Ireland/UK issues, hence why AJE gave it extensive coverage
It is good see issues being debated. As much as I am a royalist, it is what a good news service should be doing. Though there was a rather wierd report on Saturday about some Caribbean immigrants living in North London saying they wouldn't be celebrating because of the way they have been treated in the UK. A story worth covering, but they weren't asked why the Queen personally was responsible for this
They covered Prince Charles speech/beacon lighting/fireworks on CNN/US's The Situation Room, also simulcast live on CNNI
CNN did cover the plane crash so that piece is incorrect. Would be nice if they do some fact checking. The transcripts are available on cnn's website. Wouldn't have taken a couple of minutes to check them and see there was effectively a newsflash within CNN's coverage about the plane crash
Yes, I don't understand why they seem to have been avoiding virtually any mention of the Jubilee.

They did actually do quite a bit on Sunday. Not rolling like the other channels, but they had a reporter who they went to every half hour or so for a section. I actually thought for NEWS coverage they did very well. They were debating issues to do with monarchy and trying to give an overall picture instead of getting caught up in hours of boats.

I didn't check, what was CNN doing about the concert?

"...In celebration of adorable old ladies continued non-death"
'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart' on CNN's coverage of the flotilla
I had no idea about the plane crash in Nigeria.
