Actually refreshing to see an event on the BBC without either a permanent live bug or a reminder every five minutes of what we're watching.
I don't the BBC were too far wrong with their efforts - I'd have just put Huw on commentary rather than in a studio away from the action bookending the show and just cut down the number of reporters they had around - only Claire was really in a position of interest. I'm sure the Daily Mail will take great delight in slamming the number of people involved tomorrow.
- The BBC used no astons at all the entire afternoon - why? There really weren't *any* unexpected presenters or guests for them to identify. The full screen 'schedule' put up during Huw's intro looked like a decent colour scheme that would have worked perfectly well...

A very rare occasion where they might actually be right. You'd be hours into the event, thinking you'd seen everyone and then another BBC presenter would appear, chat to someone for about 2 minutes (that's if the link didn't go down) and then not hear from them again. Very unusual that hardly any of the presenters were advertised as coming up, almost as if they weren't quite sure if they'd bother with them or not.
The Horrible Histories thing didn't really work. Most viewers wouldn't have known what the show was or who the 'presenter' was, made even worse by the rain/poor sound.

I read on Twitter now that poor Brooke had food poisoning. I was wondering where she disappeared in the middle of coverage. Anyway ,Quest and Morgan worked really well together, Richard is their royal family expert so he provided great info as always, they also had good guests. Pleasantly surprised by CNN's coverage.
What's this about Piers Morgan's CNN co-presenter being taken to hospital?

Shame about the weather but some great coverage today. It's also a shame it seemed the BBC decided to cut away for interviews with reporters/presenters (some we haven't seen for years) at pinnacle moments.

And some we didn't want to see eg Fearne Cotton & Tess Daly!
Anneka Rice was the only one feeling the cold I noticed, wearing gloves!

I was watching the Wright Stuff this morning and all but one caller to the show was appalled at the BBC's coverage.

Although The Wright Stuff are right, it's a bit rich for them to be sniggering at the BBC coverage when you realise how pathetic Channel 5 News is!

That's a bit of an odd conclusion to come to, I don't think Matt Wright and his show's viewers represent the view of Channel 5 management.

Not really, they're making valid points but they aren't really able to slate somebody elses news coverage when their own is terrible.

It's alright, you can stand down - he's chatting to the crowds on The Mall on the News Channel this morning.
He did look a bit lonely there at the end. Maybe they could have put him on a sofa or a second chair nearby so it might have looked like he could have guests in when we weren't looking.
I suspect he was there all along for disaster recovery purposes - the main OB was being produced from nearby, so if everything else was lost, they'd be able to cut back to him, gesticulating wildly.
I only caught a little bit of the main studio, but it did strike me as a little bit of a 'One Show-by-the-Thames'. It looked very bright, although I might have just been watching it on a poorly set-up monitor.

Been dipping in and out of the coverage on the BBC today. I never understood the point of having Huw at Buckingham Palace, or at all if I'm honest.

Overall - I did wonder if the 'One Show' style tone the BBC went for was a deliberate (some might say desperate) response for the pasting they got after the Royal Wedding
