i do remember quite well i think sometime last year when this happend, i have a strange feeling though that it was becouse of a sports event, which doesnt seem too likly, but it was once on BBC 2 before.
In the past when Tim Henman was playing at that time, The 6 o'clock news and local news were on BBC2 which can be weird. The evening line up on BBC1 then got moved to that channel whatever the tennis would be still on but EastEnders is NEVER on BBC2 for some reason and has a late time on BBC1 whatever the tnnis finshes. Why can't Easties be aired on BBC2 like the other programmes on before that next year or so. Otherwise, Why couldn't BBC2 show the tennis and leave BBC1 to have their scedule as planned
Because the BBC don't give a s**t about the digital regional viewers, but there's only 1 regional bully at weekends anyway, & that should be going ahead in a few mins fingers crossed !

This isn't anything to do with Wimbledon. It's so Live 8 can run seemlessly all night. The UK event will probably run late anyway so they shouldn't have scheduled news at that time in the first place
When breakfast was on BBC2 you were told to go onto analogue for the local news (Bill said something about pressing tv2 what does that mean exactly?). Why isn't BBC2 regional anymore? Also didn't the afternoon
(Including regional) news update used to be on 2?

That was for digital viewers because there is no regional BBC TWO channel on digital, there is only the BBC TWO nations (England, NI, Scotland, Wales) and therefore to get the regional programme for your local area you would have to press the tv button on your digital remote to switch to the analogue television signal and then press 2 to change to your regional BBC TWO.
Yes, the afternoon news did used to be on BBC2 and the other regular regional programmes on BBC TWO were Thursday night's current affairs strand and the weekly political programme on Sundays.
None of the English regions can opt on BBC TWO Digital and only some regions can opt on BBC TWO Analogue. These tend to be hose based in older centres (Bristol, Plymouth Southampton etc can still opt on Two) and some regions that have recently moved (Birmingham and Norwich) have managed to retain the ability to opt on Two. However, newer smaller regions like Hull, Oxford and Cambridge, plus the Channel Islands cannot opt on BBC TWO at all.
All English regional opts were moved to BBC ONE some years ago. Very occasionally, opts move to BBC TWO, often at short notice which annoys the hell out of the regions who've spent the day preparing a programme only to find they cannot transmit it.
AFAIK the only regular English regional opt left on BBC TWO is "The Superleague Show", which goes out from Leeds accross the North of England on Sundays. Coincidentally, this opt is often on-air at the same time as The Politics Show, so Leeds' new premises were specifically built with areas designed to be opted on both channels simultaneously.
Bounce Sombre Long was used for network with just an announcement saying that Wimbledon Highlights will be twenty minutes later than planned and a change to the schedule to bring the news with Jane Hill.
