Nick, I normally agree with your comments on here but Boring little child? That has to be one of the most insensitive comments.

Whatever we may think, however we may be getting bored of the story - imagine that scared, terrified and deeply upset little girl wanting her mum and dad - uprooted from her loved ones into who knows what.

All I can imagine is how my 4 year old niece would be - and that thought terrifies me. We can blame the partents for leaving her unsupervised and we can all say we would never do that - but if it was your child or relative I think you would be offended by someone calling her a 'boring little girl'.

She never asked for any of this.

Absolutely, utterly and definitely NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST.

Please look at ALL the evidence, not a view, quite obviously, slanted by the media hype.

He said : "a bleedin' video of the boring little child. "

I do sincerely hope he was trying to say, although it wouldn't be much better: "a bleedin boring' video of the little child. "

I agree that the coverage has been outragously out of proportion, Sky News has sunk to an all-time low. Ian Woods could never again describe himself as a journalist with credability after the way he acted when Robert Murat was taken in for questioning. JT, Anna and the rest of them jumped on the band-wagon. Hey! Soham all over again???

For Shame!!

No.

I meant exactly what I said originally and stand by it 100%.

Disagree by all means, even if it makes you as sad as the media, but I have as much right to my opinion as you have.

You are indeed entitled to your own opinion.

I am not 'sad' Nick, I just think the whole thing is hyped around the parents - my point is what the hell is that or did that little girl go through - it's that what upsets me.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion. You are right there. The pople of Ireland voted theirs yesterday for a new gouvernement and the results show is currently going out on RTÉ 1.

But I must ask. Do you you actually know that she was a "sad little girl" before she was kidnapped?

I have never used the phrase "sad little girl".

I used the phrase "boring little child".

She probably wasn't a boring little child before all this started, but she has now been turned into a boring little child by her father, her mother and the media.

With Nick on this one.

I agree, what she may be going through, or went through, may have been awful, but I cannot have any sympathy for the parents. The thought of leaving my daughter on her own in a foreign country would not be an option. It is negligence, plain and simple.

I think this story is getting tiresome, very quickly.

Nick is completly right here - what has cricket got to do with this?

This story is now being force fed to the public - whether it's videos at sports events, yellow ribbons printed on newspapers or messages forcibly attached to the end of e-mails.

If people want to find out more about it or help fine, but they also have the right not to have the sentiments of some doo-gooder attached to their daily routine - and certainly those who pay good money for a day at the cricket / FA Cup final / whereever have the right to enjoy that day without it being abruptly interupted by someone turning a missing child into some kind of saint or something!

The most disgusting aspect of this is the way Madeline's parents snap their fingers and the media seem to jump - and the news that over 1000 other children have gone missing since puts it all into perspective.

And re: the comment if it were your niece or something. That's something I've thought about myself - and how I might feel if it had been a relative of mine whose child had gone missing while they were home alone when they were on the piss. And then I remember that actually they would never ever ever dream of doing that!

I'm wondering if perhaps they've played their final trump card though - in the sense that the 'personal interviews' with the likes of Jane Hill et al are usually held back until they've really run out of coverage - and this is obviously what went out yesterday evening. Apart from that and the Song, what stunts are left to pull?

(Incidentally I don't know how many others have noticed Clarence Mitchell following them around closely on various bits of VT, this new career is clearly proving quite lucrative for him - well he could well be doing it for free, but you know what I mean).

It's very doubtful that the child will be found alive now, and even if she was then it's almost certain that she's not in Portugal. Even the McCanns don't think she is there, so it's time to end the extended holiday and return home.

It's also time the Police looked to charging them with negligence for abandoning their children in the first place.

Let's get back to some real news.
