Can't (well, can actually) believe they were selfish enough to turn down helping stage a reconstruction because the Portugese authorities won't declare they're not suspects. Surely even their fear of arrest shouldn't stop them encouraging moves that could find help find Madeline or established what happened and bring crucial new evidence into the frame.
Talking of reconstructions (and tediously linking it back to TV pres), has this case ever been on Crimewatch?

I refer you to Nini's eloquent summary of the situation in the other place

Just read that Robert Murat is to sue 11 media outlets over their coverage involving him. If he were to win he could expect £200,000 per paper.
Sun
Daily Express
Sunday Express
Daily Star
Daily Mail
Evening Standard
Metro
Daily Mirror
Sunday Mirror
News of the World
The Scotsman
Sky
Do remember watching Sky News that evening and their coverage was shocking. I remember one of their reports saying that he was a dodgy person as he has a glass eye.
Then it'll be £2.4 million. I thought the £200,000 previously mentioned referred to the total amount.
Well, £2.4 million is better, but would it be much of a blow to the outlets?
Sunday Mirror reporter Lori Campbell wrote an article headlined 'Why I shopped Maddy suspect' in which she claimed: 'There was an evasiveness and unease about Murat that left me feeling extremely uncomfortable.'....Campbell told Sky News: 'It was just very reminiscent of the Soham murders, that was my first thought. He was hanging around, asking us questions and maybe trying to find out what we knew.'
Just what do you learn on these "media studies" degrees if not basic libel and slander law? They certainly aren't teaching much journalism.
ITV have got a bloody two hour prime-time documentary on the McCunts next week:

Almost a year to the day since their daughter went missing from their holiday apartment in Portugal, Kate and Gerry McCann talk exclusively to ITV about the events of that fateful night.
