Its unbelieveable isn't it? As soon as the finger's pointed at them, they decide to fly home and don't want anymore media intrusion. If that doesn't say anything, then I am the Pope. Rolling Eyes

I think a lawyer may have advised them to return, hence the U-turn on yesterday.

Breakfast had an interview with Pilomena (most likely a typo). When asked by Dermot about the parents not answering some questions she went on to say that 'the parents hadn't discussed the questions with her due to the status' (or similar wording). Seems like a lie as much leaked to the press so far appears to have come via the friends & relations, so presumably prior to the 'suspect' status at least the McCanns had been speaking to friends & relations to get information out to the media (screwed or otherwise).

I couldn't help notice today's Daily Express headline...

...they seem to be going for a more neutral turn.

There's something continually fishy about this whole thing. You can bet your life tomorrow's ITV Evening News will lead with this and how the McCann's are having to rebuild their lives. I.e.. 'Flowers for Home'.."Looking tired and exhausted..Kate McCann answers her door to a family friend carrying a bunch of Maddy's favourite flowers this morning..blah..blah.."

Well you can guess what opened This Morning...although Fern seemed to be taking a more "well, I don't know what to think" frame of mind, similar to how she initially defended John Leslie then started having doubts about him.

Meanwhile, all the Sundays barring the Mail were incredibly pro-McCann yesterday, the Mirror's comment appealing for Kate McCann to be left in peace.

Martin Brunt mentioned this morning that if the McCanns were charged and taken into custody, there was a possibility that the twins could be taken into care. This may explain the sudden dash home...

I'm sure (correct me if im wrong) that the McCanns were planning to come home before all this happpend. It wasent until this was mentioned that the police made them suspects. I know we like to blow things out of the water, but maybe this is just in the diary.

There is a lot of ' what ifs' in the reporting today. Yesterday the coverage really got on my nerves.

I'm glad the news crews have realised today that there is other news out there.

They were and the Potugese police wanted them to stay on.

Surely the obvious defence there will be that Maddy's manky toy (Cuddly Cat) which Kate McCann has been carrying around for months now will have transferred DNA samples (ie flakes of skin) to the car.

Equally, the suggestion that Maddy had a nosebleed/bumped her head getting onto the plane to Portugal will have left traces of blood (however minute) on her clothes which were obviously transferred into the car with belongings being moved to the rented villa after her diappearance.

However, I think the point of the thread in this forum isn't to discuss our views on their possible guilt, but actually to debate whether the TV coverage is OTT, which i believe it is.

A partial match now found in the boot too apparently....

It will be interesting to see what the outcome is should they be found to be involved in her disappearance.

Martin Brunt describes it as "damning evidence"

The BBC are not reporting Sky's Breaking News on the discovery of Madeleine's DNA in hire car - is this a reflection on the reliability of the 'Sky Sources' quoted?

The reporters who were backing the parents (including me I'll admit) must be worrying now. Although the DNA doesn't necessarily prove the parents were involved, it certainly doesn't help their case does it?
