The conversation on the BBC Six suggested while Mrs McCann is a suspect, there are no plans to make Mr McCann one.

Gets more confusing doesn't it?

Oooh the plot thickens....

This is just absurdity. Do we have somebody outside Scotland Yard every time someone is suspected of murder?

And I think the BBC coverage is disgracefully biased towards the McCannCanns

The early part of this thread was spent defending Robert Murat, now it's open season on the McCanns.

You are, once again, ignoring the second post of the entire thread, Simon.

Just heard on Newsnight Robert Murat's name was put forward to the police by a British journalist. Does anyone know the background to this? Did the journalist have any grounds or did they just pluck Murat out?

a Sunday Mirror reporter decided his behaviour was 'odd' (stayed close to the investigation, lived with his mum, has a glass eye) and so notified the police.

Then Sky's Ian Woods (who had been using Murat as a lapdog for the previous week, getting him to run errands to the shops for him) sensed that he was going to have the unmasking of Ian Huntley Mark 2 on his CV and went on air saying Murat did, indeed, look "rather odd and creepy" because of his glass eye.

If that is true, it is a quite remarkable statement.

A career ending statement at most news agencies I would have thought.

But then again, Sky "never wrong for long" News managed to dither over what to do with faking the start of the second Gulf war.

Sadly, I too remember Ian Woods detailing Mr Murat's glass eye when being interviewed by Anna Botting a few months ago in Praia de Luz. In fairness I think he recognised straight away what a ridiculous comment he had made.
