CNN International is leading with the story, and voiced-over by their star anchor, Anderson Cooper.

BBC World has it second in the running-order.

Whatever happens, I hope the girl is ok.

According to Fox News, always good with their facts, Martin Brunt has got a new job:

Quote:
McCann family representative Martin Brunt said tests have also been carried out on a car the McCanns hired five weeks after Madeleine's disappearance.

"They weren't using it at the time she went missing," he told SKY News.

Brunt added that McCann is "horrified to be under suspicion".

"She is shocked and surprised in several ways. First of all that such an accusation could be made against her. And obviously she is concerned that such a line of investigation can become a distraction from further attempts to find Madeleine," said Brunt.

I just can't believe the way Sky is reporting about this. Poor Kate she is made a formal suspect. It;s not fair, they only found blood of her doughter in her car.
Give me a break.

Well it was a car they rented after she went missing. But fair point.

Wow, this is getting more interesting every minute. I'll watch CNN's coverage, it's not biased as UK media.

Brunty leading the way as always, saying that Gerry McCann's sister, Philomena, understands that Kate will be charged with the "accidental death" of Madeleine.

Could be a bizarre coincidence. Obviously the police will have checked the rental history of the car in question and also questioned all the other drivers/hirers of the period???

Is Martin Brunt no longer working for Sky News, then? I can't see Sky from here, but a poster suggests above that he is a spokesman for the family?

The whole thing still stinks, even if the speculation turns out to be the case.

Why would anyone, having accidentally killed and then disposed of a young child in a panic, then spend the best part of six months appealing for her to be found?

This whole thing is ridiculous, and I don't buy it for one second. Either:

1) This speculation is bogus, and there is something underhanded going on here on the part of the authorities, or

2) The child was killed deliberately by the parents, and this "accidental" carp was manufactured by them in the event that evidence turned up.

Time will tell.

In the Louise Woodward case, it was hinted that the Eappens, being doctors, would have the medical knowledge to "cover things up". And the McCanns are also medics.

But it still seems ridiculous the focus is now suddenly on them.

This is all very interesting. I must admit, the whole thing has been a bit strange from the start. Of course, they are innocent until proven guilty but one thing I would say is never underestimate anyone. It could have been accidental death, or deliberate, and they may have invented this whole abduction story in the hope of taking the spotlight off them? If the child was never found, no-one would be any the wiser. Makes you wonder...

If they are charged, it will be a major embarrassment for the Vatican, as they invited the McCanns to meet the Pope. Also, I imagine there would be some very disgruntled people in the UK who have devoted time and money to the campaign.

You seem to be contradicting yourself robert. Innocent until proven guilty, of course, but then you begin speculating what will happen if charges are brought. Why not wait until that happens, if it's going to?
