Madeleine ribbons to be cleared

BBC News posted:
Hundreds of ribbons put up to show support for Madeleine McCann in her home village are to be taken down.

Villagers tied yellow strips to the Cross Green war memorial in Rothley, Leicestershire, which became the focus for vigils praying for her safe return.

Brian Kennedy, Madeleine's great-uncle, said the removal of the ribbons did not mean people had given up hope of finding the four-year-old.

Three-year-old Madeleine was abducted from an apartment in Portugal on 3 May.

US visit

Mr Kennedy, said: "[It's] not because in any way we feel that we're giving up hope or the search is any less than it was.

"It's as big as ever - in fact it's more widespread than anything but they've been on the green for a long time and the green doesn't just belong to us, it belongs to everyone."

Soft toys, which were also left to show support for the child were cleared from the memorial in June.

Father Gerry McCann travelled to the US and met with the attorney general over the issue of tackling child abduction earlier in the week.

He and his wife Kate have also travelled across Europe looking for their daughter who disappeared from their apartment in the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz while they were eating at a nearby restaurant.

I await the Daily Mail headline tomorrow. The Express , however, will probably claim it was Prince Phillip who abducted her and forced the McCanns to take the ribbons down.

....Mohammed Al Fayed reports Wink Central News East will be worth a watch, no doubt there will be a cloying report from the war memorial at Rothley.

I'm assuming Mr McCann hasn't been ordained as a priest yet (with the intention of no doubt becoming beatified upon his death, prior to saintdom for services to child care) Shocked

How did he get a meeting with the US Attorney-General (or did he loiter outside his offices with a wolf-pack of papparazzi) ?

It seems the US-AG would provide such media coverage to a UK citizen lost in Europe when there are thousands of children going missing in the US every year!

That's why an Amber Alert system in the UK would be slightly frivolous - in America these things are sadly more common.

But there are still thousands of children missing in every country in the world and how the media has just clustered around this middle-class thirty-something two-point-four children family seems to have produced nothing more than an ego trip for the Daily Mail and the Obsess . People seem to have forgotten that there's a little girl behind all this.

Inevitably. Their poulation is at least 5 times that of our own.

At least that's one good argumant for the McCanns staying abroad.

While they stay out of the UK, these things ought not to get any more common over here.

Over here, we do tend to get a baby sitter in, before we go out to dinner.

Robert Murat's home being searched again

BBC News posted:
Police in Portugal investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have renewed their search of the home of 33-year-old Briton Robert Murat.

About 10 officers returned to the home of Mr Murat, the only official suspect, in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve.

Four-year-old Madeleine went missing from the resort in May, while was on holiday with her family.

Mr Murat's property was initially searched days after Madeleine was abducted while she slept.

Team McCann must be really hacked off about the Foot and Mouth.

How dare these cows become the centre of attention, just as there's even more publicity required from Portugal.

It's ridiculous isn't it?

These cows are dead now, why sit there for hours talking about them when there's a small child who so obviously isn't?

I blame the farmer.

I understand he took his missus out for a meal in Guildford for the evening and failed to leave a cowhand in charge of the cattle while he was away.

The Duke of Edinburgh is responsible. He made Maddie McCann steal the vaccine and then sprayed the farmer's converted white FIAT van with it, thereby infecting the cows which he could then shoot (for fun - in the absence of foxes) this afternoon.

He's just trying to take attention away from the Diana anniversary! Shocked
