No, don't give them ideas, although I'm sure it's on the agenda for the editorial on a slow news day.

He was only saying what many people are thinking though. I'm sure the Daily Mail already has their "One Year Since Maddy Got Snatched" headline planned.

Laughing Sadly true of the DE's style.

How do you confuse a Daily Mail reader? Tell them that paedophiles are the natural predators of asylum seekers Wink

Just to prove that the DE is not in any way or form obsessed with Diana, a remarkably restrained cover from today.

Scant Maddy news today, obviously we have become more callous and mean-spirited with time Wink

Strange, I thought they'd taken to writing Diana in some kind of fancy cursive script.

It was reported on CNE yesterday that Leicester Mercury has banned people commenting on the Madeleine story. Dozens of people have post "malicious and defamatory" remarks on the website, saying that Madelein's parents ought to be prosecuted by the CPS for "neglecting their child"!

That is also in todays Diana Express, with one of their meaningless 'NOW....' headlines.

Anyone would think that nobody's been criticising the Macaans until recently!

Thank goodness they haven't read this forum, or picked on that C4 boss's comments a few weeks ago Wink

Madeleine ribbons to be cleared

BBC News posted:
Hundreds of ribbons put up to show support for Madeleine McCann in her home village are to be taken down.

Villagers tied yellow strips to the Cross Green war memorial in Rothley, Leicestershire, which became the focus for vigils praying for her safe return.

Brian Kennedy, Madeleine's great-uncle, said the removal of the ribbons did not mean people had given up hope of finding the four-year-old.

Three-year-old Madeleine was abducted from an apartment in Portugal on 3 May.

US visit

Mr Kennedy, said: "[It's] not because in any way we feel that we're giving up hope or the search is any less than it was.

"It's as big as ever - in fact it's more widespread than anything but they've been on the green for a long time and the green doesn't just belong to us, it belongs to everyone."

Soft toys, which were also left to show support for the child were cleared from the memorial in June.

Father Gerry McCann travelled to the US and met with the attorney general over the issue of tackling child abduction earlier in the week.

He and his wife Kate have also travelled across Europe looking for their daughter who disappeared from their apartment in the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz while they were eating at a nearby restaurant.

I await the Daily Mail headline tomorrow. The Express , however, will probably claim it was Prince Phillip who abducted her and forced the McCanns to take the ribbons down.
