My gosh the parents of Maddie have even made it into Hello magazine. I don't normally buy this mag but it was the pic of Kate middleton on the front that caught my eye. Shameless i know, i buy into this celeb culture.
Looks like they got a nice little trip around Europe on a private plane gratis.
I really think it's time they went home and let the police do their work with the tv and radio stations doing their bit. We should follow the line of the Americans and have missing childrens faces put onto everday items like Milk cartons and loaves of Bread.
They could continue their publicity of her case using the Internet.
i've found the coverage of this story cynical and overhyped. haven't got a great deal of respect for the parents - leaving their child alone and subsequently glossing over their error.
however, i am also uncomfortable to see some of the gloating in this thread. whilst some of the posts allude to the many (and in a lot of cases fair) criticisms levelled at the parents and the media using wit and humour, which is fine by me, some of the posts seem to have crossed the line from observational and or humorous into just being mean spirited.
its not often mr mercia gives a sermon, but on this occasion, there but for the grace of god go i
I posted last week about an article in my local paper about two women who had money donated to them to go on "holiday" in Morocco to look for Madeleine McCann.
Here is the follow up story in this fridays paper:
Quote:
TWO Southport mums who went to Morocco to look for missing toddler Madeleine McCann were given hope by possible sightings.
Eve Rimmer, 30, of Sawdon Avenue, Kew, and Maxine Welsh, 34, of Vaughan Road, Birkdale, flew to Marrakech on Friday, June 1 after Mrs Rimmer’s four-year-old daughter asked why she was not looking for Madeleine.
As they distributed leaflets, a Moroccan woman in her late 60s wearing dark clothes and a scarf over her head approached the Southport mums.
Mrs Rimmer said: “She could not speak English and I begged people who could translate to come forward.
“A Moroccan market stall owner did and he said the woman had seen Madeleine on two or three occasions with a man.
“She said they came on Sundays to buy fruit and veg so she expected to see them again on Sunday.”
Mrs Rimmer flew back home on Sunday morning but the old woman planned to take a photo of the girl and send it to Crimestoppers.
The man with the little girl thought to be Madeleine was described as Moroccan, nearly 6ft, between 45 and 50 with very dark brown hair but slightly grey at the front.
As the Southport mums left the Medina in Marrakech, a woman in her 30s jumped on the cart they travelled in.
Mrs Rimmer said: “She couldn’t speak English but she was desperate to tell us something and kept pointing to Madeleine’s eyes on our flyers.
“We found a policeman to translate for us and he said the woman had seen Madeleine with a man in a northern port of Morocco.
“She said it was windy when she saw her and the girl’s veil blew off.
“She said she had blonde hair and the woman was adamant she remembered the girl’s eyes.”
The woman who had dark, layered hair and wore a flowing skirt and light top gave a description of the man which matched the earlier one.
She said the man held the girl’s hand tightly and called her Layla.
The policeman said he would arrest Mrs Rimmer if she tried to photograph him or the woman.
When she arrived home on Sunday, June 3, Mrs Rimmer reported everything to the police and on Tuesday she spent three hours making a formal statement with Southport police.
They will now forward the information to the foreign force dealing with the investigation.
Mrs Rimmer gave out 4,000 leaflets, spoke to hundreds of people and intends to return to Morocco next month to continue her search.
She said: “This trip cost me Ł700 so I need to find a cheap flight but I really want to go back to keep looking.
“I actually thought I would feel better after going but it made me more frustrated because I wish people would do what I’ve done and just go to France, Spain, Morocco, anywhere.
“I believe she’s safe and will be found.”
Madeleine went missing on May 3 from the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz.
An idea for Tesco to latch onto. Not just Maddie but a collaboration of the missing persons organisation along side the major supermarkets.
I vaguely remember years ago that some supermarket tried this idea Chaz. Must have been a passing whim. Mind you i don't shop at Iceland. I can ask my nephew though. He's working at iceland @ the mo. That company broke his leg yet he went back to work there instead of suing them for everypenny thay've got.

Already latched onto - and was printed on the bottom of every tesco.com receipt for about two weeks (picture of Maddie, close up of her eye, and appeal text)
