When Maddie's found dead and there's still X million in the fighting fund, who do you think's going to be the recipient of that? Will the donors demand a refund due to it being a wasted enterprise? Will the charity comission demand it go to a Missing Child foundation and help the OTHER missing kids?

Or will the tabloids argue that the grief and pain suffered by the McCanns merits their receipt of a financial windfall?

Hmm interesting point.
But what I want to know is...how have the McCanns' reacted differently to grief-stricken parents (as pointed out by the German journalist)?

i've found the coverage of this story cynical and overhyped. haven't got a great deal of respect for the parents - leaving their child alone and subsequently glossing over their error.

however, i am also uncomfortable to see some of the gloating in this thread. whilst some of the posts allude to the many (and in a lot of cases fair) criticisms levelled at the parents and the media using wit and humour, which is fine by me, some of the posts seem to have crossed the line from observational and or humorous into just being mean spirited.

its not often mr mercia gives a sermon, but on this occasion, there but for the grace of god go i

But the whole Maddy operation has done the one thing it didn't set out to do - wear the public out. One newspaper referred to 'Maddy fatigue' with the intense media coverage of this one story, having a negative affect and so the German Question was only really a matter of time.

it's not what they've done, its the way they've done it which has irked so many people.

You mean, touring Europe? I agree.

It's interesting to how it's all referred to as a "tour", not a "search".

Yeh, I don't know. You just DON'T leave a three year old child in an unlocked hotel room and pop out for dinner. The McCanns don't really deserve the appeal they are getting for their irresponsibility. It's almost like running over a baby and demanding compensation for the trauma.

I think anything left over afterwards should go to Team-McCann, on the basis that they use it to pay for Babysitters for the two remaining children in future and save us all a repeat of this circus.

Without going into detail about my thoughts on this but something really stinks. I can't put my finger on it but something isn't right.

I feel for the little girl. Afterall it's her that's going through some real bad 5hit. Yeah her parents are suffering but lets not forget, if they hadn't left the kids alone poor Maddie wouldn't have been abducted.

I hate to say it but the police will probably now be looking for a corpse. If she is alive i sincerly hope that some deranged woman who can't have babies of her own has got her and is looking after her.

Now the story has disappeared from the main news agenda I suspect the "mystery caller" earlier this week was nothing of the sort.

It's sad, but the time for media stunts is over.

Team-McCann - take your twins home and let the police get on with it. You will not find your daugher wandering tourist destinations followed by a media circus....and I suspect you never thought you would.

Go home, look after your children!
