Definite echoes of the Peter Falconio case, where his girlfriend Joanne Lees seemed less than heartbroken. The media then though were not afraid to raise questions about her, and although Bradley Murdoch probably did it (assuming he's dead, but they never found a body) i'm not entirely convinced she was a competely innocent party either.
Absolutely, it is possible that Falconio is still alive, of course, and he arranged his 'murder' to write of debt or something.... I don't know.
In this case it is clear to me the 'German question' was far too long overdue, and if anything wasn't 'controvertial' enough.
I remember once in my then hometown of Chester a girl went missing (I think she was about 10 or 11), didn't even make the national news. Posters were widespread around Chester and that was about it. My point is, whether the parents are innocent or not, what makes this girl so much more important than the one who was murdered in Chester?
Absolute bugger all apart from the parent's guilt (or coverup) methinks.

Absolute b****r all apart from the parent's guilt (or coverup) methinks.
Absolutely, you're right. Some people have questioned whether the case would have got so much attention if 'Maddy' had not been white AND British. It's really down to guilt and self-indulgence of the parents. They think their child is so much more important than the thousands of children that go missing every year, when really she is not.

Hmmm that's pushing it a little. I mean, I wouldn' go as far as to accuse them of enjoying the luxuries they are given by the Portuguese Police and any sort of profit that is ''going towards Madelaine.'' Yet what this money is used for, I'm not sure.

When Maddie's found dead and there's still X million in the fighting fund, who do you think's going to be the recipient of that? Will the donors demand a refund due to it being a wasted enterprise? Will the charity comission demand it go to a Missing Child foundation and help the OTHER missing kids?
Or will the tabloids argue that the grief and pain suffered by the McCanns merits their receipt of a financial windfall?
