Got that this morning off some dumb teen. I dared to question or criticise the ordeal, and she responded with things like "**** off yuii **** silly lil boy" "alriight thn say that u had a sis and she went missing woulnt yuii look for her u would just say oh well she is dead,,wee should stop looking for her alriight thn wen sum one has seen her sooo she and dead yuii **** care lesss lil **** c***."

Then I mentioned about the parents making money out of it and I got "alriight thnn,,i dont think they areee and if they was i dont think that they would care about tht they just want there lil gurl back yuii are a **** silly lil c***..yuii are sick whoo would ever cum out wiff that yuii **** vile lil c*** yuiii really dont care do ya...uu fucing silly lilcunt."

My first thought was keyboard jams. Then I realised that if she believes that crap she's the idiot. She blocked me before I could ask how that made me sick.

Maybe this Madelaine doesn't actually exist, and it's a grand conspiracy to extort money out of the stupid.

The lengths that the press are going to to make sure people don't forget about this kid are amazing -- suspiciously so. If the journalists put their efforts into something useful the world might improve just a tiny bit.

And in this conspiracy, would the man who had a daughter the spitting image of her be in on it, and all the videos etc come from there??

Its just beyond crazy now.

Ronnie I agree, with you, but am similarly horrified that this youngster was let loose on the net clearly without the use of a spell-checker. How irresponsible are her parents for allowing her to appear so stupid in public. Have they no marketing skills whatsoever Shocked

I'm not being deliberately sick here, but it's reminding me of that Simpsons episode when "Timmy O'Toole" fell down the well. Everyone's just jumping on a bandwagon and there's bugger all anyone can do.

Incidentally, the press has to be very careful - the backlash has clearly already started and some people are massively losing interest. The sales figures for the papers would be interesting.

no media coverage = no stories on maddie. i'm afraid after this length of time the media should back off and give the family 'time to reflect'.

there's nothing we brits can do apart from keep her in our mind when we travel abroad for holidays or maybe put a couple of quid in a tin.

therefore there shouldn't been the constant media attention but i can tell already it's slipping down the agenda and will soon 'drop off'.

Yellow ribbons at the bloody Derby today! Why?

I caught a bit of the Newsnight weekly round up on N24 which bought this issue up - one woman agreed with most of us and made complete sense, then that Kelvin McKenzie acted like a complete wanker accusing virtually anyone who dared to question the coverage of being a paedo or something.

Also, worth noting again as how time progresses, the distance the McGanns were from their home seems to get shorter and shorter! Just a "few yards" now...

Time though to consider a different angle to this - aren't the press just giving the McGanns false hope now?

It was only forty yards. I do agree that, while Madeleine's disappearance is sad and we're all hoping that she'll be returned safe and soon, the media coverage is now focussing more on the campaign and less on Madeleine herself.

No, that was last week - this week it's just "a few yards". A month ago if was 150 yards!

Any other towns have any stories like this in their local paper?

Quote:

TWO Southport mums are flying out to Morocco today to help search for missing toddler Madeleine McCann.

Eve Rimmer, 30, of Sawdon Avenue, Kew, and Maxine Welsh, 34, of Vaughan Road, Birkdale, will walk the streets of Marrakech distributing leaflets hoping someone will recognise the face printed on their specially made T-shirts.

Mum-of-two Eve decided to join the search after her four-year-old daughter Eleanor asked why she was not looking for Madeleine.

Eve told the Southport Visiter: “My daughter who goes to Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary in Birkdale had been praying and doing different things for Madeleine in school.

“She came home one day and asked who was looking for Madeleine and why wasn’t I helping.

“She wanted to know if she went missing whether I would look for her.

“Of course I would and I’d want people to do it with me so that’s why I’m going out there to help Gerry and Kate McCann.”

Edge Hill student Mrs Rimmer who is studying to be a human rights lecturer and her friend Maxine Welsh board their plane at 9am this morning .

They will ask the pilot to make an announcement about what they are doing and to remind passengers to look for Madeleine.

Handbag-sized leaflets will be distributed on board so people have the special search hotline number while they are away.

Mrs Rimmer said: “All day Friday and Saturday we will give out leaflets, put them on billboards and up in restaurants.

“We have 4,000 leaflets so we have to put our underwear and clothes in our handbags for the journey because the leaflets fill our luggage allowance.”

The two women had to use their own money for the trip because they were not registered with a charity but donations from individuals helped their cause.

What would have happened if Elenor had come home from school and asked her Mum why she was not fighting in Iraq?
