Not that you're antiBBC or anything.

They wouldn't give me a job. That's why.

Where does it actually say the Saturday lunchtime bulletin is to go?

Who said the Saturday bulletin is to go?

It's somewhere in the DQF proposals

I'd have thought the second weekend bulletin was an obvious target for cuts but haven't seen anything to suggest it would be myself. It would be more costly so wouldn't happen, especially now, but the BBC bulletins would benefit more from an extra 5-minutes on the evening bulletin really - BBC regional news at the weekends has always been pretty poor.

I assume with the axing of The Politics Show the regional segments are also being axed, or will they remain as part of The Sunday Politics?

At weekends, I find the one ITV regional bulletin at weekends are better resourced than the BBC.

Take today's BBC London News for example, reports coming from weekday producers who double up as video journalists, no weather forecaster and so short that you blink and you miss and this is the 5.15 bulletin today!

However the weekday main bulletin on the BBC is so much better.

The weekend regional segments will remain in the Sunday Politics.

Maintain the main bulletins on BBC One, though the 3pm summary and Saturday lunchtime bulletins would end

That's a silly one, BBC West Midlands provide a signed afternoon bulletin (and have done since 1994 at the earliest) for deaf viewers, if that ends who provides a service for them? I know this is about money but the BBC are meant to be accessible and the subtitles in the regions suck.

As that isn't common across all regions it's not going to be seen as an essential, though if the Midlands were in a position to continue with a signed bulletin couldn't they make one of the Breakfast bulletins signed?

I think some of the BBC London breakfast bulletins are signed over on the NC during Breakfast?

Years ago BBC Northern Ireland also used to provide a signed mid-afternoon bulletin when it was on BBC Two, but nowadays they provide a signed 5 minute recap of the main news at the end of the lunchtime bulletin.

Yes - though this is done by the network signing team and is a by-product of the BBC London regional opts being carried during the simulcast of Breakfast on the BBC NC (allowing a second outlet for a signed version of the main programme)
