Strangely despite their reputation for filler and fluff, Look North Hull just ran a normal programme last night with death and misery across the headlines and Peter in the studio as normal.

Look North Leeds, like many other regions, had a Christmas special with Amy Garcia live from a theme park, and also used the Christmas opening titles.

Look north Hull had Christmas titles at the weekend.

I think the reputation is a little unfair. No more fluff than other regional magazines from what I have seen. What doesn't help is the Peter levy style of hard interviews!!!!!

Its not so much interview 'style' as interrupting and irritating whoever the unfortunate guest is, and trotting out whatever is on the card in front of him. He has never trained as a journalist and shouldn't be allowed near any serious subject. He was a local radio presenter and it shows.
He is apparently getting a lot of coverage in the local paper of late since Reach took over and the whole paper went tabloidesque.

That’s right. When you search his name on their website, you get lots of stories:

I honestly do not understand why this keeps on being mentioned. Nicky Campbell never trained as a journalist, he started out as jingle writer, and he's anchored a news breakfast show for two decades. Simon Mayo never trained as a journalist, and anchored 5 Live's coverage of 9/11. Andy Crane never trained as a journalist, and presented Granada Reports for several months. Geoff Lloyd never trained as a journalist, and this year anchored 5 Live's coverage of the two biggest news stories of the year, the Prime Minister going into intensive care and the Brexit deal.

You don't hang around newsrooms for over thirty years without learning at least something about journalism. Change the record.

Here, here. The other thing that annoys me is when I hear people say you must have a degree to work in broadcast media or journalism, quite simply - you don't. Legal training, good writing/communication skills and an understanding of the English language, yes. A degree may help but its not the be all and end all.

We're seriously in broken record territory here. This point has been hammered for years.

I don't think there's much point continuing this, we certainly don't want it to turn into another mega-thread.

Obviously feel free to create a new thread if there's something worthwhile about the programme.
