Is there last image where the name appears meant to be the most famous/ iconic landmark of the particular region??

I get the feeling that looking at the place names chosen and the images chosen, the titles were very much designed by London

Actually, no - the locations were chosen in the regions.

Does that explain 'Catcliffe' being the place name that most catches your eye on the Leeds version?

And idea why they decided to change at the last second?
for what the difference is the need not have botherd.

And looks like theres been a last min problem as jeff brown has done the full intro to the show and appears to be presenting all of it tonight. Not bad for a sports presenter.

As peterrocket mentioned it was decided at the last minute to change the music in all regions, it however seems that London and NE&C managed to slip the net. As to any further reason why the changed it last minute I have no idea, I personally prefer the theme that they have dropped.

Just looked at the lunchtime NE&C online and the presenter mentioned that tonights programme would be presented by Jeff Brown anyway, so no last minute hiccup Wink

I too prefer the dropped tune and after speaking to a good sauce Looknorth and LDN were not suplied with the alterd versions in time so had to use the origional. Apparently looknorth wanted to keep the 1999 mix as they thought it sounded better and more appropriate for the regions but were told they were not allowed but have kept it just in case. I think the present version sounds dull with the high pitched beeps taken out its just really a base tune with nothing to it very dull. Rolling Eyes

I personally think looknorth and any other region should be allowed to use what ever titles they want to use after all they were never all exactley the same in 1999 or 2005 now I think the regions sound/look to alike.

Sorry my sentence wasn't clear! I meant location images were chosen by the regions.

I don't know for sure about the place names. I think the regions fed them in, but I imagine they then just put them randomly in a template so which ones were big was fairly random.

I love the new titles and style but its a shame they didnt update the set.

The baltic thing was filmed ages ago and was a bit of library film. As was the angel and yorkshire wheel. Wink

I have found out they changed there mind on the title music at the last second because some people at the BBC thought it would sound cheap to bring back the exact same tune as 1999 and wanted to avoid critisim Rolling Eyes As we know LDN and looknorth at this point had already played the tune.

This info came from a relaiable scorce. Wink

The Yorkshire Wheel footage can't be that old, as it has the current white rose emblem on the 'hub' of the wheel, which not that long ago replaced the logo of original sponsor, Norwich Union.

Edit: Just thought - I was thinking of the Look North Leeds footage of the Yorkshire Wheel. Don't know if NE&C use the same clip...

No titles into the late edition of North East Tonight, instead a frozen VT of the headline and strap which lasted a few seconds, then to the studio with 'Good evening and welcome..' so far no astons/dog on reports.

Edit: Large 'North East Weather' image after the weather forecast, which was the one they use on the plasmas during the 6pm NET (not the ITV Weather sting).

Was it a longer regional bulletin tonight?

I noticed Ian Payne presenting on the North edition of North East Tonight instead of the South (covering for Jonathan Morrell). With reporter Gregg Easteal on South covering for Ian, strange that they didn't just swap the positions.
