Anyone see Look North Newcastle tonight?
They opted out of the network and showed a "There is a fault and we hope to return to scheduled programme as soon as possible" caption. After five minutes of this Carol Malia appeared in a dimly lit newsroom. They managed to get the weather woman on from an outside broadcast. She didn't look happy! Anyone record it?

So I wasn't the only one to see it. Shocked

Carol didnt look happy , yes she didnt try to hide that and signed off with some very 'sarcy' comments. Another interesting Look North cock up to add to the others.

Yes it was something like..."We have the biggest studio of all the BBC regions and tomorrow night we hope to be back in it"...get her!

Yes her remarks seemed to be aimed at the technicians and at the studio itself, I wonder how long before the show started did the problems happen.
I was surprised that they got back on air , I thought they would show the Yorkshire news instead.

It's still available on-line, although here it seems to get to the headlines or the trail before and then run out of bandwidth to display any more

anyone know what happenned? I'm surprised they didn't take LDN while they were sorting things out, it looked like they knew they wouldn't be able to start before they opted out because they had a fault caption ready, or is that standard issue to the regions?

A little bird tells me it was to do with the server they play their reports from and the vision mixer crashing-it has been playing up apparently

Interesting - but a crashed vision mixer and server playout system shouldn't force you out of the studio should it? (Or do Newcastle have a presentation gallery with a newsroom camera?)

"What happened''

A non technical summation from Carol Malia was ' all the cameras in the studio broke down' , what you make of that I leave up to you.

I don't think anyone would be able to say that that isn't an example of dumbing down Very Happy

Dumbing down must be worse in the East then... Stewart White explained the fact that for 20 minutes, DSat viewers were left with black as "losing the signal"!

Cheers Stew.

Sounds more like 'explaining in simple terms to the presenter who wouldn't have the foggiest idea what the problem was if we explained it any more than that'
