C*rol M*lia's just confirmed a new studio will be unveiled for Look Norf this coming Monday. They're currently in a CSO studio with one camera shot; oh look, she's gone all blue:

There's a report due on the programme about it in a few minutes, apparently.

Some caps from the end of the programme:

Looking a bit bare at the moment, I hope they stick the webcam on over the weekend.

Yes the BBC probablytold them to hurry up or else!
its long overdue!
So are we going for a Look North set or a LDn set or even worse a EMT set!

It it just me or is that studio quite large compared to most English Regional centres, especially the new ones?

Also, is that grey panel stood up at the far end the screen for the rear projector?

Look North obviously aren't doing the BBC North West cop out of repainting the old set and sticking a few illuminated panels in so it could be quite interesting. It would be nice to see a large set that fills the studio!

Yes, NE&C have quite a big main studio - I once had a tour of it when I was a kid. It was designed to be "Network Production" standard for the days when BBC Newcastle made network kids programmes

The black box is the video screen for the camera, I think.

BTW why must we all blank out C*rol M*lia?

Are they upgrading their equipment to widescreen as well? Confused

It's not just Look North that isn't 16:9, it seems that everything transmitted by them isn't widescreen. BBC NE&C have occasionally timeshifted network programmes - they've never been in proper 16:9 then either. So I doubt it.

That doesn't mean anything - they're a 4:3 region so if they timeshift anything it will be in 4:3. A '****' will go through exactly the same technical infrastructure that Look North does.

There is a chance that it is going widescreen, I believe that they have had a technical upgrade recently and a conversion to 16:9 is a good excuse for a new set

well they just let us have a sneak-peak at the new set on the Sunday bulletin. Lots of White, Pink(!) and Red . Old Desk stays... together with new plasma screen showing the Quayside behind the desk.

We've just had a preview of the new set - lots of red panels, similar desk. The layout is the same. Anyone manage to capture it?
