Can I suggest Look North Hull, especially over the coming week? Peter Levy and Paul Hudson reunited after a week's absence.... perhaps you could even compare the two Look Norths for the area?

The project is about the differences between Look North and Calendar, you can't just change the remit willy nilly. And what's more she has asked for an impartial view, therefore you don't qualify.

LOL. Thats well funny.

Hello!

i'm currently working on a college project analysing a weeks worth of news from bbc look north (leeds) and calendar news. i was wondering if anyone could tell me (impartially!) the main differences between the two in terms of how they deliver hard news and soft items, what is the target audience for each programme and the differences in style and presentation please? i'm in desparate need of some expert help!!!
thanx!! Very Happy

Isn't that the point of the project? You're meant to watch and analyse them yourself not ask a load of people from the net to do your work for you!

And I'm sure kate appreciates your fantastic amount of help Inspector Sands!

I watch both programmes, you don't. Therefore if I wanted to I could offer an impartial critique, you are blinkered, so couldn't. So don't argue.

But I don't believe in doing peoples homework for them. I beleive in hard graft, not having it handed on a plate.

Yup - wouldn't watch Calendar if anyone paid me to/bribed me! the only way I could be even remotely swayed is if someone found a way to get a Mars bar down a nasogastric tube!

Unfair I think. She isn't going to learn anything by not doing the analysis and asking other people to give her the answers.

We shouldn't be helping her. Believe me it is for her own good

my thoughts exactly. giving people the answers defeats the point of kate being set this assignment. the people who are DOING the work for her may get a warm tingly feeling, seeing themselves as some kind of latter-day jesus, but they are in fact preventing her from having to do her own thinking.

Kate - you've stirred it up here! But I can help, and in all honestly tell you that from my direct experience of the last time that I watched either show, that :

Look North is preesented by John Burns and Barry Chambers.

Calendar is presented by Austin Mitchell and Richard Whitley.

Or, on ITV (Belmont) there's About Anglia presented by Colin Bell and Jane Probyn.

Don't know if this helps? I'm usaually sort of up-to-date with these things.

Hmm Kate - I wonder if the new archive of material from both Calendar and Look North that's been announced today at the photography museum in Bradford would be of any use to you?
