Well at the weekend we had Julie Reigner the weathergirl reading the saturday evening news.

This evening we have a double female header. Suzie Fowler Watt and Jenny Kirk and presenting the news, and on the sub-opt at Cambridge its Jane Deith.

Lets hope she has holiday or leave booked soon so we can have the weather forecasted from Jim Bacon. Then again I would rather her "read" the news than present the weather.

Jenny Kirk is a great presenter and would be a better main presenter than Fowler Watt.

The "Close Up" service presenters are practically bad - Does anyone know what has happened to Amanda Goodman? She has presented a few times since Christmas though always looked very ill. Her profile remains on the Look East Web site, even though Ian Winter's was removed when he went to work with Nick, Susan and Kay at the post box.

On the subject of "Close Up" it seems to have gone very quiet about the new Look East programme from Milton Keynes...

A quick email to the BBC finds that Amanda is curently on maternity leave, due to give birth to her third child any day now. All being well they hope she will return to our screens later in the year.

I don't suppose anyone has any clips of Julie Reinger doing the news? I'm fairly intrigued by the idea.

Following a double female lead on the National, Look East is presented tonight by Amelia Reynolds and Carol Bundock. The second female double header this week.

Louisa Preston who is usually on BBC London's news presented the Cambridge opt out for Look East this evening and she's back on later.

I 'd like to see her do this for Look East on a occasional basis.

The job has been advertised for a Look East opt out presenter after Ellie Barker left to join ITV West. She may have taken the post or just be doing freelance cover while the Beeb searches for a replacement.

Louise Preston is quite a heavy weight for BBC Look East, especially on the sub-opt. I can't see that Louisa would do it pernament as I have been seeing her on both BBC London and BBC News 24.

Louisa Preston was doing yesterday evenings Look East Cambridge sub-opt, where the lighting made her look quite ill. This morning she is doing London's Breakfast bulletins where she looks much healthier with a tan.

The LE lighting showed up a few more lines that she'd rather not see. Wink

Certainly a first for me seeing a regional presenter do the late bulletin in one region and the following day's breakfast bulletins in another .

Ages ago, I'm sure there was talk of Look East (West) eventually becoming a stand-alone region, and moving from Cambridge to Milton Keynes at the same time.

What's become of those plans?

As far as I understand that is still the long term plan, someone mentioned that the BBC Cambridge were going to need to move out of their current home, and finding a suitable location for radio and tv would be difficult, so the eventual plan was to move the region to Milton Keynes.
