Some anger developing on social media regarding the tv helicopters probably being seen by people trapped in the tower who did not survive and why no fire helicopters were used. Could develop into a story.
I think Victoria Derbyshire would get a lot more respect if she adapted her delivery and presentation style to breaking news events which was lacking during Manchester and Grenfell Tower.
I can see why people like her humanist angle to a story, which as I mentioned works better for radio.
Kay isn't as bad as people make out, yes she makes gaffes occasionally, but I think social media has helped reduce the persona that people think she has on-air.

Was there really a need for Clive Myrie to read less than 4 minutes of other news during the Ten...

Which is why social media doesn't run the country. Fire helicopters would have been wholly ineffective. In fact they can cause more harm than good.

I doubt it - fire fighters and former fire fighters have already addressed this. Helicopters would have served no purpose in this case.
The difference with Kay is that she maintains some form of gravitas and will change her delivery to suit. Derbyshire on the other hand presents her bulletins as if she's on 5 Live still.
I think this is one of the most ridiculous statements I have read on TV Forum in ages
Not a Kay fan clearly? I'm not exactly a Kay Burley super fan, but at least she's covered events such as 9/11 with gravitas. Can the same be said for Victoria?
All we're seeing here is the Kay bashers against the Derbyshire bashers. I'm at least trying to be centrist to this debate.
On 9/11 she said something along the lines of "the entire east coast of the US has been decimated". Gravitas...

The quote is “If you’re just joining us, the entire eastern seaboard of the United States has been decimated by a terrorist attack.”
As much as I'm not a fan, her comeback when challenged on this in a subsequent interview was quite brilliant: "I’m sure people took it into account when they gave us our Bafta."

Jon Snow asked that very question on Wed's C4 News, and the response from (I think ?) an ex fire chief was the idea is a complete non starter for this sort of fire, and virtually laughed at Snow for even suggesting it.

We may as well ask whether a five-minute weekend news bulletin or a two minute hourly radio bulletin needs any presenter. Of course they do. I thought I saw Mr Myrie in the newsroom on the 11pm TOTH camera pan. I could be wrong but, if he was there, he could have been staying there until midnight or later and helping helping gather news. His 4 minutes of airtime doesn't mean that was all he did.
I suppose he was needed in case the line went down. Was he on during the Six?
Martine Croxall was also there as she was on air after the Ten so she could have covered that. The Six was George Alagiah throughout and the studio was never on air. We don't know who was on standby.
